Remove Harsh Contaminants Immediately
Between washes, if you notice bird droppings or tree sap on your car, it’s important to remove them as soon as possible before they stain or damage the paint. The Griot’s Garage Detailer’s Handbook says to “saturate a 100% cotton towel with full strength car wash and carefully wipe the area.” These contaminants contain abrasive materials that scratch paint, so remove them as carefully as possible. Paint cleaning clay may also work well.
