Issue: Jaguar Land Rover North America, LLC (Land Rover) is recalling certain 2016-2017 Range Rover and Range Rover Sport vehicles. The driver’s seat belt emergency locking retractor may not lock as intended. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) numbers 209, “Seat Belt Assemblies” and 208, “Occupant Crash Protection.” During hard braking before a crash, the seat belt emergency locking retractor may not lock as intended, increasing the risk of injury.
Solution: Dealers will inspect and replace the seat belt assembly, as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed June 3, 2022.
