2022 Mitsubishi Outlander
Manufacturer: Mitsubishi Motors North America
Number of vehicles affected: 2,865
Report Date: May 13, 2022
Issue: Mitsubishi Motors North America, Inc. (MMNA) is recalling certain 2022 Outlander vehicles. The Automatic Locking Retractor (ALR) in the right front, second-row right, and second-row left seat belt assemblies may deactivate before the seat belts are fully retracted, which can result in an unsecured child restraint system. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 208, “Occupant Crash Protection.” An unsecured child restraint system can increase the risk of injury during a crash.
Solution: Dealers will inspect and replace the seat belt assemblies, as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed June 23, 2022.
Contact: Owners may contact MMNA customer service at 1-88-648-7820. MMNA’s number for this recall is SR-22-002.
