Rally Racing, American Style

We took a ride with David Higgins on a narrow stretch of gravel road near Shelton, Washington, as the Subaru Rally Team USA prepared cars for the upcoming Oregon Trail Rally. Riding along at speeds exceeding 100 mph while drifting around a curve with trees only a few feet from either side of the car, we got quick insight into the kind of skill —and intestinal fortitude — required for this type of racing. Imagine doing the same thing on a road you’ve only seen once or twice with your co-pilot providing instructions just two turns in advance.
