Ultimate Road Trip
Each summer for the last 16 years, a group of adventurous car collectors gathers in August on the outskirts of Seattle for an amazing road trip to California. The drive covers about 1,500 miles through the mountains and along the Pacific Coast, arriving in Pebble Beach just in time for the famed Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance collector car show. As the first official event of the annual Pebble Beach Concours, the Motoring Classic is the brainchild of Al McEwan, a collector who has not only organized this event from the beginning, but leads the charge each year in his 1934 Bentley. The idea of the Motoring Classic is to enjoy these incredible cars in their natural environment — cruising the open road. With vehicles ranging in age from a 1923 Marmon 34B Sport Speedster to a 1970 Ferrari 246 Dino, this year’s group will spend nine days on the road, enjoying what McEwan calls “a little bit of driving between the parties.” Here’s a look at the gorgeous and rare vehicles participating in the 2018 Pebble Beach Concours Motoring Classic.
