In 2018 car buyers in the U.S continued their migration away from traditional sedans and passenger cars toward sport-utility vehicles and crossovers, contributing to a sales increase of nearly 10 percent for the SUV category. Of the 17.3 million vehicles sold in the U.S last year (a slight overall sales increase compared with 2017), more than 8 million were SUVs and crossovers.
