Lamborghini SC20
Every exotic sports car that emerges from the factory of Automobili Lamborghini deserves recognition as something special, although today the Italian carmaker revealed a model so special that only one will be built. For a single (unnamed) customer, the designers and engineers in Sant’Agata Bolognese focused their efforts and energies on one ultimate vehicle, the Lamborghini SC20 — a street-legal, open-top car built specifically for racetracks.

One-Off
To create the SC20 — the automaker’s second one-off sports car — designers at Lamborghini Centro Stile worked in collaboration with the customer, who was involved in decision-making from the very beginning. A couple years ago Lamborghini created the SC18 Alston in the same fashion. “Two years after the SC18 Alston, the SC20 was a new, intriguing challenge. The chief sources of inspiration were the Diablo VT Roadster, Aventador J, Veneno Roadster and Concept S, and the result is a dramatic combination of creativity and racing attitude,” said Mitja Borkert, the head of design at Lamborghini Centro Stile.

Power
The SC20 employs Lamborghini’s 6.5-liter V12 engine to produce 759 horsepower and 531 lb-ft of torque. Power gets delivered to all four wheels via a 7-speed Independent Shifting Rod gearbox.

Open-Air Experience
The Lamborghini SC20 provides a true open-air experience — it has no roof or windscreen. The aerodynamically engineered and polished carbon fiber body provides optimal airflow for performance as well as driver and passenger comfort. A pronounced front splitter features fins on either side in addition to two large air intakes that stand out in Blu Cepheus. Air intakes on the hood take inspiration from those on the Huracan GT3 EVO race car.

Unique Silhouette
The unique silhouette of the Lamborghini SC20 gets accentuated by deeply sculpted sides — as seen on the Essenza SCV12 — to provide airflow for brakes and engine cooling.

Rear View
At the rear of this special car, two large exhaust outlets emerge between signature Lamborghini taillights. The large carbon fiber wing can be set in three different positions, depending on the level of downforce required.

Custom Colors
The SC20 is painted in Bianco Fu (white) with Blu Cepheus (blue) accents. Designers trimmed the interior with the same shade of blue, combined with Nero Cosmus (black) and Bianco Leda (white). The door panels feature exposed carbon fiber as do the center control stack and steering wheel. The seats of the Lamborghini SC20 are constructed of carbon fiber shells overlaid with Alcantara and leather upholstery. Door handles are machined from solid aluminum.

Engineering and Craftmanship
In a statement, Chief Technical Officer of Automobili Lamborghini Maurizio Reggiani noted, “The SC20 is a combination of sophisticated engineering, Italian craftsmanship, sportiness and advanced design. It is also an example of applying our V12 engine and carbon fiber to a radical open-top vehicle that unmistakably carries the Lamborghini DNA.”

Wheels and Tires
The Lamborghini SC20 wears high-performance Pirelli PZero Corsa tires mounted on single-nut aluminum rims. Wheels are 20 inches at the front, 21 inches at the rear. At all four corners, massive brakes provide amazing stopping power.

Technical and Styling Exercise
“The SC20 is one more technical and styling exercise that associates Squadra Corsa experience with Lamborghini design, masterfully interpreted by our Centro Stile based on the customer’s wishes, which was the focus of the project during the entire vehicle development and construction process,” noted Head of Lamborghini Motorsport Giorgio Sanna.
