Jeep Grand Wagoneer: 1984–1991
Jeep renamed the Wagoneer to the Grand Wagoneer for the 1984 model year when the Cherokee, formerly a 2-door version of Wagoneer, debuted as a compact SUV with Wagoneer as a trim level. Jeep had produced earlier upscale versions of Wagoneer with Super Wagoneer and Wagoneer Limited, but Grand Wagoneer was in actuality Jeep’s first premium SUV. Grand Wagoneer featured leather upholstery, air-conditioning, an AM / FM / CB stereo radio, additional sound insulation and woodgrain exterior trim. At rollout Grand Wagoneer also featured a 360 cubic-inch V8 engine with increased horsepower, more torque and a higher tow rating than competitors.
