Indy 500 Winners
A highlight of Memorial Day weekend for racing fans, the Indianapolis 500 reigns as one of the premier auto races in the world, where drivers and teams compete flat-out for 500 miles at the iconic track known as “The Brickyard.” The race has always been associated with Memorial Day, and since 1971 has been held on Sunday of Memorial Day weekend — except for rain delays and 2020 when the race was rescheduled to August 23 due to the COVID-19 pandemic — and run with no spectators in the stands. Last year the race returned to its traditional Memorial Day weekend date with fans returning as well, although with attendance limited to 40 percent capacity. This year the race continues on Sunday of Memorial Day weekend at full capacity. As Memorial Day approaches, let’s roar down memory lane and look back at all previous Indy 500 winners.
