Porsche Boxster
Price: Starting at $52,100
Porsche’s 2-seat mid-engine roadster, the Boxster debuted as a 1997 model at a lower price than the rear-engine 911 — also powered by horizontally-opposed 6-cylinder engines. For 2013 the Boxster received a chassis that was lighter, longer and wider than the previous version. The car has four versions for the 2016 model year: Boxster, Boxster S, Boxster GTS and Boxster Spyder. The Boxster receives power from a 265-horsepower 2.7-liter flat six-cylinder engine; the Boxster S has a 315-horsepower 3.4-liter flat six; the Boxster GTS bumps to 330 horsepower from the 3.4-liter unit. The Boxster Spyder is the most powerful model to date, with a 375-horsepower 3.8-liter engine. It’s designed for lighter weight and high performance with no radio, no air-conditioning and a manually-operated top.
