What Is It?
Last year Nissan introduced the next chapter in the book of Z, building on 50 years of sports car history. That new Nissan Z car came to market with more power, better performance and styling that paid homage to the Z cars that preceded it. As good as that car is, there’s always room for more performance, and the Japan-based automaker is stepping up the Z car game with the debut of the all-new Nissan Z NISMO.

Look Back
While this is the latest Z NISMO, it is not the first. Nissan created a new business unit called Nissan Motorsports International Co, LTD, in 1984 — abbreviated to NISMO. Since then, the NISMO brand has adorned race cars and production cars, representing the highest performance in a model lineup. The 2007 Nissan 350Z NISMO was the first Z car to get this high-performance treatment, followed by the 370Z. Now the 2024 Nissan Z NISMO joins the GT-R NISMO in the company’s lineup.

Under the Hood
The NISMO version of the Nissan Z gets several enhancements under the hood, including improved cooling, increased turbo boost and turbine speed, and an enhanced engine oil cooler. These updates result in an output of 420 horsepower and 384 lb-ft of torque – an increase of 20 horses and 34 lb-ft of torque versus the standard Z.

No Manual
Enthusiasts were very excited when the new Nissan Z arrived last year with a 6-speed manual transmission, but buyers of the new Z NISMO won’t have that option. The Z NISMO will come exclusively with a 9-speed automatic transmission that has been enhanced for quicker shifting and more aggressive launch control.

Go-Fast Goodies
When a car gets the NISMO treatment, it’s about more than simply additional horsepower. The 2024 Nissan Z NISMO features a completely revised suspension optimized to improve cornering and handling, as well as unique stabilizer bars, stiffer spring rate, and larger dampers. The NISMO’s chassis has been stiffened with additional bracing, resulting in a torsional rigidity increase of 2.5 percent.

Brakes and Tires
The new Z NISMO rides on lightweight gloss black RAYS 19-inch wheels exclusive to the NISMO. These wheels get fitted with high-performance Dunlop SP SPORT MAXX GT600 tires that are slightly wider than those on the standard Z Performance. Brakes have also been upgraded with 15-inch rotors up front and 13.8-inch in the rear, designed to improve the brake feel and performance.

Standout Styling
To stand out from the standard Nissan Z, the new Z NISMO gets unique styling that is also designed to improve aerodynamic performance. The nose of the Z NISMO extends farther forward, and the new front fascia features a restyled grille with a thin honeycomb mesh that reduces drag while still allowing airflow into the engine. Further differentiating the NISMO Z, a red accent runs along the lower edge of the front fascia and continues around the entire vehicle.

Rear View
At the rear, the Z NISMO gets a wider rear spoiler with a three-piece design that wraps around the rear fenders. Side sills have also been redesigned to further reduce drag and lift.

Colors
Nissan will offer the Z NISMO in Black Diamond Pearl, Brilliant Silver, Passion Red TriCoat, Everest White Pearl TriCoat, and NISMO-exclusive Stealth Grey.

Inner Space
Inside the Nissan Z NISMO, the lucky driver and passenger will sit on Recaro sport seats trimmed in leather and Alcantara, featuring a red center and NISMO logos on the head restraints. A new steering wheel gets a red accent at the top. The start button and drive mode selector are also in anodized red for an additional sporty accent.
