About the Award
The North American Utility Vehicle of the Year gets awarded each January in Detroit. Although most awards of this type are presented by an individual publication or study, this one remains unique because it’s based on ballots cast by an independent jury of automotive journalists from the U.S. and Canada. To be eligible, a vehicle must be all new or substantially redesigned. Winners excel in design, innovation, safety, handling, driver satisfaction and value for the dollar. Here’s a look at past winners of this prestigious award. The North American Car and Truck of the Year awards have been awarded annually since 1994; the Utility Vehicle category became part of the awards in 2017. Here is a look back at previous UV award winners.
