Unlike Class A motorhomes (huge, bus-size vehicles) and Class B RVs (small van chassis, a bit cramped), Class C RVs can be a right-sized choice for folks who want maximum living space, comfort and storage without having to pilot a stress-inducing vehicle. Class C RVs are typically built with a van cab and cutaway chassis, so the layout of the cockpit mimics common vans or large passenger vehicles, helping drivers feel more at home behind the wheel. Class C RV prices can seem like they approach the stratosphere; however, to stick with versions that are slightly more affordable, we’ve compiled a selection of entry models with starting prices less than $200,000.

Built on Ford’s 158-inch E-450 commercial truck chassis, the Platinum series from Coach House has a powerful V10 engine. The “home” part of this motorhome is a one-piece fiberglass shell reinforced with carbon fiber that makes it quieter than other RV units built in sections. (Note that RV and motorhome are used interchangeably throughout this article. Technically speaking, a motorhome is a self-propelled RV — so a teardrop trailer also is an RV, but it is not a motorhome.)

At the upper end of the Winnebago Class C line, the View comes in three floor plans that vary by slideout size. As the entry plan, the 24V has rear twin beds and a small slideout that holds a either a sofa or dual recliners and a wardrobe; the midrange has a larger slideout holding a wardrobe and a U-shaped dinette or theater seating; and the 24D (shown above) features the largest slideout with the dinette or theater seating, a queen-size Murphy bed / sofa combination, and a large bathroom and wardrobe at the rear of the coach.
