The first seven months of 2018 are now in the books, and auto sales continue to hold steady in America. At the end of July 2018, U.S. numbers are estimated at 9.9 million vehicles sold — about 1 percent higher than the same period a year earlier. This number is an estimate because General Motors no longer reports monthly sales figures, instead moving to quarterly releases. With this change, the ranking will not include vehicles from General Motors. While overall sales are somewhat flat, several brands are having strong sales in 2018 including Jeep, Volkswagen, Subaru and Mazda. General Motors continues to lead all other manufacturers in the U.S. with an estimated 17 percent market share, followed by Ford Motor Company, Toyota Motor Sales and Chrysler / FCA Group.
