1969 Chevrolet Astro III Experimental
Powered by a gas turbine Allison engine straight out of a helicopter, the Astro III has a three-wheel configuration yet there are actually four wheels on the road (two in parallel up front). Since occupants have no way of seeing rearward, the Astro III also employs a rearview camera and display instead of rearview mirrors inside or out — a heady and high-tech vision solution for an automobile in 1969.

  1. Great rendition — especially of the Cadillacs. When will we ever see another Cadillac to rival those shown here? We need a new icon without worrying about fuel efficiency and “organic” greenness.

  2. A bright red Cadillac convertible was my ideal car when I was a kid and it still is. They don’t make such gorgeous cars any longer.
