Rolls-Royce Dawn
Known for building elegant automobiles that set the bar for ultimate luxury, Rolls-Royce recently gave the world a glimpse of an all-new model that should move that bar even higher. The Dawn is simply too opulent to be called a mere convertible — in a press release Rolls calls it the “world’s only true modern four-seater super-luxury drophead.”

Perhaps Torsten Mueller-Oetvoes, the CEO of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, describes the Dawn best: “Quite simply, it is the sexiest Rolls-Royce ever built.”

1952 Rolls-Royce Silver Dawn
Inspired by the rare 1952 Silver Dawn, the new car’s styling is in keeping with the current Rolls-Royce lineup. That said, 80 percent of the Dawn’s body parts are unique to the new model.

Soft-Top Operation
The new Dawn convertible top operates silently, and can be opened or closed in 22 seconds at speeds up to 30 mph. Rolls-Royce engineers refer to the operation as a “silent ballet.”

True Four-Seater
Many four-seat convertibles actually accommodate just two people, given their limited rear-seat space. The Dawn makes no compromises — it carries four passengers in the utmost comfort.

Unique Doors
Doors are rear-hinged for easier entry and exit — a signature design element for Rolls-Royce.

Clearly a Rolls-Royce
It may be all new, but the Dawn carries elemental characteristics of a Rolls-Royce, including a long hood, short front overhang, long rear overhang and a high shoulder line. Of course the Dawn also possesses the marque’s legendary grille and Spirit of Ecstasy hood ornament. And 21-inch polished wheels fit perfectly with the vehicle’s overall proportions.

Custom Wood Trim
Fine wood paneling envelops rear-seat passengers — a design element carried throughout the cabin. Customers choose specific wood to suit their desires.

Power Beyond Adequate
There was a time when Rolls-Royce simply referred to the power output of its pristine automobiles as “adequate.” The new Dawn boasts more than adequate power. A 6.6-liter twin-turbo V12 engine resided under the long hood, producing 563 horsepower and an amazing 575 lb-ft of torque at just 1500 rpm. That’s enough to move this 5,600-pound automobile to 60 mph in less than five seconds.

Beautiful pictures but what is a “drophead”?? And whose idea was it to put pumpkin-colored seats in such an otherwise glamorous car? Surely there must be some other color that would go better with the blue exterior.

Drop head means a convertible. And actually that color interior looks a lot better in person with a blue exterior. It’s very popular in that color combination in BMW.
