More EVs From Subaru
It’s only been a few years since Subaru joined the ranks of companies offering electric vehicles when it introduced the all-new Solterra. While that model didn’t move the needle much, that’s about to change with a slew of EV introductions this year. An all-new Solterra debuted at the New York Auto Show earlier this year alongside an all-new EV, the Trailseeker. And the company continues to stack the deck as it pulls the wraps off a third EV, the 2026 Subaru Uncharted.
Smallest Subaru EV
The all-new Uncharted is a compact crossover SUV, and it arrives as the smallest model in Subaru’s EV lineup. About the size of the brand’s popular Crosstrek, Uncharted should offer up similar maneuverability but considerably more performance. The 2026 Uncharted will be available in three trims when it arrives early next year: Premium FWD, Sport, and GT. Prices will start at $36,445 (including the $1,450 destination charge), with the Sport starting at $41,245 and GT coming in at $45,245.
Signature Look
Subaru has created a new signature look for its electric vehicles, so the front styling of the Solterra, Trailseeker, and new Uncharted is quite similar. Stylish LED headlights and running lights, along with the illuminated Subaru logo, give the Subaru EVs a distinct look. The Uncharted features dark cladding surrounding the fog lights, which provides a more sculpted look and helps separate it from its EV siblings.
Bold Styling
The new Uncharted features a sleek roofline and larger fender flares that hint at the new Subaru’s performance. At the same time, dark cladding surrounds the car for better protection when adventuring off the pavement. Dark badging on the rear with a beefy-looking rear bumper adds to the rugged design, and the available 20-inch wheels complete the look.
Strong Performance
Powering the 2026 Subaru Uncharted Sport and GT is a dual-motor electric powertrain that puts out a plentiful 338 horsepower with standard Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive. That much power is expected to move the Uncharted to 60 mph in less than five seconds. Subaru also plans to offer a limited number of lower-priced Premium FWD variants that feature a single motor driving the front wheels, putting out 221 horsepower.
Range and Charging
While it’s too early for EPA estimates, Subaru expects the front-wheel drive Premium to have a range exceeding 300 miles, while the Sport and GT will have a still-respectable 290 miles of driving range. The Uncharted features the new NACS charging port, allowing customers access to the more than 15,000 Tesla Supercharger stations. The 74.7-kWh lithium-ion battery can charge at a rate of 150 kW, which will get from 10% to 80% charge in about 30 minutes. Alternatively, the Uncharted should be able to get a full charge overnight from an 11-kW Level 2 home charger.
Unique Components
The Uncharted is built in a partnership with Toyota (as are the Solterra and Trailseeker), but Subaru engineers developed the chassis and tuned the suspension to deliver the brand’s expected stability and handling on loose or slick surfaces. With lightweight and rigid construction as well as structural support from the integrated underfloor batteries, the Uncharted should deliver an agile, sporty driving experience. The small Subaru EV should also be able to handle off-road excursions with 8.2 inches of ground clearance.
Advanced Interior
Inside the new Uncharted, you’ll find a clean, futuristic design focusing on the centrally mounted 14-inch infotainment touchscreen display. All Subaru Uncharted trims will include Apple CarPlay and Android Auto with wireless connectivity. Aside from the volume and climate-control knobs integrated into the screen, the Uncharted is practically devoid of physical controls. A stylish center console features dual wireless phone chargers as well as a unique gear selector.
Steering Wheel
The steering wheel also stands out with a flat top and bottom. Not only is this a unique style choice, but it also helps the driver to see the digital driver display, which is set back close to the windshield.
EyeSight
Like the rest of the Subaru lineup, the new Uncharted comes standard with Subaru’s suite of advanced driver-assist features, called EyeSight. EyeSight includes automatic emergency braking, emergency stop assist, front cross traffic alert, blind spot monitoring, lane departure alert, and adaptive cruise control. Higher trims will be available with Traffic Jam Assist and Lane Change Assist.
Coming Next Year
The all-new 2026 Subaru Uncharted is expected to arrive in showrooms next spring. More details will be made available closer to the on-sale date.
