Just a few years ago, Jeep brought the Wagoneer back after a 30-year hiatus, and the new high-end SUV took its place at the top of the Jeep lineup. But the model and trim names were confusing, and the company tried to bill the Wagoneer as its own brand, separate from Jeep. These issues get fixed for 2026 as the flagship SUV now wears the Jeep name and comes exclusively as the Grand Wagoneer. In addition to its fresh styling and simpler lineup, the Grand Wagoneer will be offered with an innovative range-extended electric powertrain.

“With the refreshed 2026 Jeep Grand Wagoneer, we’re delivering more than just bold design and refined craftsmanship: we’re offering competitive pricing that ensures exceptional value in the large SUV segment,” said Bob Broderdorf, Jeep brand CEO. “Every Grand Wagoneer also now proudly wears a Jeep badge, reinforcing its prominent position within the Jeep family, while making it easier for customers to find the exact model that fits their lifestyle and price point.”

For the 2026 model year, the Jeep Grand Wagoneer (no more Wagoneer) is available in three trims: Grand Wagoneer, Limited Altitude, and Summit Obsidian, each available in standard or extended length configurations. Prices start at below $65,000 (including destination charge) for a well-equipped 2WD base-level Grand Wagoneer, ranging up to almost $100,000 for the long-wheelbase top-of-the-line Summit Obsidian 4WD. The new naming convention also helps to better separate the Grand Wagoneer from the entirely different Jeep Wagoneer S electric SUV.

The standard engine for all trims of the Grand Wagoneer is the 3.0-liter twin-turbo Hurricane inline 6-cylinder engine, putting out 420 horsepower and 468 lb-ft of torque. Stellantis does have a high-output version of the Hurricane engine, but it won’t be available in the Grand Wagoneer, at least for now. The engine is teamed with an 8-speed automatic transmission with rear or four-wheel drive. The twin-turbo Grand Wagoneer can tow up to 10,000 pounds when properly equipped.

Later in the model year, Jeep will offer the Grand Wagoneer with an innovative range-extended electric vehicle (REEV) powertrain. The REEV will feature dual electric motors with a 92-kWh battery pack, delivering 647 horsepower and 620 lb-ft of torque. With its expected 0-60 time of around five seconds, this is the quickest and most powerful Grand Wagoneer ever. While the battery will provide about 150 miles of range, there is a 3.6-liter V6 under the hood operating as a 130-kW generator, extending the driving range to around 500 miles. Drivers will have the option of charging the battery or filling the fuel tank, depending on their driving needs.

“We’re giving our customers a choice in how they experience performance and efficiency,” said Micky Bly, senior vice president and head of global propulsion systems at Stellantis. “Our award-winning 3.0-liter Hurricane twin-turbo I-6 delivers outstanding power and capability, while the new range-extended electric system introduces a smarter path to electrification by combining the quiet confidence of all-electric driving with the assurance of long-range freedom.”

While the overall shape of the Grand Wagoneer remains unchanged for the 2026 model year, the front end styling gets a modern, high-tech look. The signature 7-slot grille gets an all-new streamlined design, and each slot can be illuminated. The new grille flows seamlessly into the slim LED headlights, and a light bar spans the top of the grille. Stylish LED running lights flank the lower grille for a unique look at night. The exterior is now completely chrome-free.

The interior of the Grand Wagoneer hasn’t changed much for the new model year, continuing to deliver an elegant cabin with the latest advanced tech features. Even the base-level Grand Wagoneer gets perforated leather-trimmed seats with power adjustments as well as heating and ventilation, while the top-level Summit gets Nappa leather and heated rear seats. Multiple display screens add a high-tech vibe, including the available passenger display.

The 2026 Jeep Grand Wagoneer is expected to arrive in showrooms later this year; however, the new range-extended electric version likely won’t be here until next spring.
