First Explorer Tremor
The Explorer has been part of Ford’s SUV lineup for more than 30 years, and it remains one of the most popular SUVs in America. The three-row SUV received a significant update for the 2025 model year, and for 2026, Ford is introducing something new to the lineup – the off-road-ready Tremor. With a unique, rugged appearance and the capability to back up that new look, the new Tremor lets new Explorer customers find adventure off the beaten path.
Tremor Family
The Explorer is the latest Ford model to receive the Tremor treatment. It joins the new Ford Expedition Tremor, as well as the Maverick, F-150, and F-Series Super Duty, all of which get similar styling and improved off-road capabilities.
Outdoor Lifestyle
“Today, people are prioritizing experiences, especially those that involve spending time outdoors,” said Matthew Duffield, Explorer Brand Manager. “We know many Explorer customers have a passion for adventure and spend their time mountain biking, hiking, riding ATVs & towing. Our goal was to deliver a vehicle that best matched their lifestyle. The first-ever Explorer Tremor is all that and more.”
Added Capability
More than just an appearance package, the Explorer Tremor comes equipped with the hardware to match its rugged, new look. Front and rear skid plates are standard, as are all-terrain tires, a Torsen limited-slip differential, and an additional 1 inch of ground clearance compared to the standard Explorer. An off-road-tuned suspension, along with unique springs and sway bars, helps keep the ride stable on rougher terrain. There’s also a 360-degree camera, providing added visibility on the trail or when parking at the grocery store.
Lighting the Way
High-intensity LED off-road lights integrated into the grille help illuminate the trail for those evening adventures, and the recovery hooks are both stylish and functional.
Unique Styling
In addition to its functional style elements, such as the off-road tires and added lighting, the new Tremor stands out from the rest of the Explorer’s lineup with tow hooks, Tremor badging on the tailgate, and accents on the grille surrounding the off-road lights, all painted in Electric Spice. The unique 18-inch alloy wheels also get a splash of the same color, similar in style to the wheels on the Expedition Tremor.
Under the Hood
The Explorer Tremor comes standard with a 2.3-liter EcoBoost turbocharged engine putting out 300 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque. However, customers can upgrade to the 3.0-liter EcoBoost V6 that bumps power output to 400 horsepower and 415 lb-ft of torque. Both engines are teamed with a 10-speed automatic transmission.
Inner Space
The Electric Spice accents continue inside, represented as contrasting stitching throughout the cabin. The front seats are also adorned with the Tremor badge on the seatbacks. Tremor models get the latest version of Ford’s Digital Experience infotainment system. This Google-based system features Google Maps, Google Assistant, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and the option to download additional apps from the Google Play Store. Massaging seats and the 14-speaker B&O audio system are also available.
Blue Cruise
Ford will offer the 2026 Explorer Tremor with the latest version of BlueCruise, the company’s hands-free driving system. One of the best systems on the market, BlueCruise operates on 97% of controlled-access highways in North America. The Tremor will get BlueCruise 1.5, which includes automatic lane changing in addition to its ability to maintain speed and position in the lane without input from the driver.
Coming Soon
The all-new 2026 Ford Explorer Tremor is expected to arrive in showrooms later this year. We expect pricing to be released closer to the on-sale date.
