Growing the Lineup
A few months ago Polestar introduced its first SUV, the Polestar 3. Now the premium EV brand from the Volvo Group continues to grow its lineup with the debut of the 2025 Polestar 4. This latest model gets a sleek SUV coupe body and will be the most potent Polestar yet.

All New
“With Polestar 4 we have taken a fundamental new approach to SUV coupe design,” observed Polestar CEO Thomas Ingenlath. “Rather than simply modifying an existing SUV, giving it a faster roofline and, as a result, compromising elements like rear headroom and comfort, we have designed Polestar 4 from the ground up as a new breed of SUV coupe that celebrates rear occupant comfort and experience,” Ingenlath noted.

Fresh Design
The Polestar Precept concept heavily influences the design of the new Polestar 4. This unique styling is especially noticeable up front, where dual-blade lights provide a new signature element for the brand, differentiating the Polestar 4 from the Polestar 3. The squared-off look gives the new model a wide stance and flows nicely into the sculpted hood.

SUV Coupe
The 2025 Polestar 4 is built on a Sustainable Experience Architecture, or SEA, developed by China’s Geely Holding — Polestar’s parent company. With a 118-inch wheelbase and an overall length of 190 inches, the Polestar 4 is slightly shorter and wider than the Polestar 3 SUV, giving the new model a sportier, more aggressive stance. The lower nose, flush windows, sleek roofline and retractable door handles provide optimum airflow around the Polestar 4 for better performance and efficiency.

No Rear Window
Perhaps the most unusual feature about the Polestar 4 is the absence of a rear window. This unique design element first appeared on the Precept concept and now goes into production with the Polestar 4. “With Polestar Precept we previewed a stunning new occupant experience by removing the rear window and pushing the rear header, which plays an integral safety role, further back,” said Polestar Head of Design Maximilian Missoni. “This means that rear occupants can now have a unique experience in our SUV coupe,” Missoni said. With no rear window for the driver to see through, the rearview mirror is replaced by a high-definition display screen that shows the video feed from a camera mounted on the roof at the back of the vehicle.

Glass Roof
With the rear window eliminated, the standard full-length glass roof of the 2025 Polestar 4 stretches above the rear-seat passengers. The roof is available with electrochromic functionality, meaning it can change from clear to opaque with the touch of a button.

Inner Space
The focus of the cabin in the 2025 Polestar 4 is a new 15.4-inch display screen with an infotainment system powered by the Android Automotive operating system. Google Maps and Google Play are integrated into the system, as is Google Assistant, which functions as the vehicle’s voice control. Polestar expects its close collaboration with Google will allow it to continue to expand the system’s capabilities. And even though the operating system is Android-based, Apple CarPlay functionality is still available.

Sustainable Materials
In keeping with the brand’s ethic and aesthetic elements, the 2024 Polestar 4 makes extensive use of sustainable materials for its interior elements. The carpet is made using reclaimed fishing nets and door panels use natural fiber polypropylene, which uses up to 50 percent less virgin plastic and provides a 40 percent weight savings. The made-to-fit upholstery is woven from 100 percent recycled polyester to reduce overall waste.

Rear Seat
With its long wheelbase and unobtrusive electric powertrain, the Polestar 4 offers rear-seat occupants plenty of legroom and headroom. The seats can be reclined to provide a surprising view through the glass roof. A media and climate control display mounted between the front seats provide control to rear-seat passengers.

More Power
The 2025 Polestar 4 will be offered with a single or dual-motor powertrain option. Single-motor variants deliver 272 horsepower to the rear wheels, while the dual-motor Polestar 4 boasts 544 horsepower — the most available in any Polestar vehicle. The dual-motor Polestar 4 will sprint to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 3.8 seconds, making it the quickest Polestar available.

Range and Charging
Both versions of the 2025 Polestar 4 will have the long-range 102 kWh battery pack, which is expected to provide more than 300 miles of driving between charges in the single-motor version. The Polestar 4 can charge at up to 200 kW on a DC fast charger, or 22 kW on a Level 2 AC charger.

Coming Next Year
The 2025 Polestar 4 will launch first in China, with production expected to begin at the Geely production facility in Hangzhou Bay, China, in November 2023. More details of the American-spec version will come next year, with deliveries planned for fall 2024. Although no detailed pricing has been released, Polestar expects the MSRP to start at approximately $60,000.
