2023 Nissan Altima
The Altima is one of the most important models in the Nissan lineup — both the brand’s best-selling passenger car as well as one of the best-selling models in America. Redesigned a few years ago, the Altima offers a full range of features, the latest advanced safety technology, and one of the most innovative engines on the market. As successful as this sedan has been over the years, the Japan-based automaker is redoubling its efforts to keep sales momentum going with a complete refresh for the 2023 Nissan Altima.

Fresh Styling
The most noticeable change to the 2023 Nissan Altima occurs up front. The updated model gets a new fascia with a revised version of Nissan’s V-Motion grille. The larger grille gives the car a sportier look and contains the new Nissan logo. The top-level SR receives a special black chrome grille to help differentiate it from the rest of the lineup. Standard LED headlights flank the new grille along with signature LED running lights.

New Wheels
Nissan also adds a full line of new wheels for the 2023 Altima to help differentiate the updated model from other recent iterations. These include a 17-inch wheel for the base-level Altima SV as well as three 19-inch wheel designs for the SR, SL and SR VC-Turbo.

Revised Interior
Updates inside the 2023 Nissan Altima give the sedan a premium feeling with revised materials for the instrument panel as well as new dual-stitch fabric for SR variants. The Altima continues to be fitted with NASA-inspired Zero Gravity seats with dual-density foam and bolstering.

Updated Tech
The automaker will offer a new 12.3-inch HD color touchscreen display for the 2023 Nissan Altima, which replaces the current 8.0-inch option. Also available are wireless Apple CarPlay, wired Android Auto, wireless phone charging and a Wi-Fi hotspot. A Bose premium audio system with nine speakers and active noise cancellation is also available.

Two Engine Options
Engine options carry over from the current Altima, featuring the standard 2.5-liter direct-injection 4-cylinder engine producing 188 horsepower and 180 lb-ft of torque. The SR front-wheel drive is also available with the innovative 2.0-liter Variable Compression Turbo powerplant that produces 248 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque. Both engines get teamed with Nissan’s Xtronic continuously variable transmission.

Fuel Economy
Both engines deliver impressive fuel efficiency with decent performance. The 2.5-liter unit is rated as high as 28 mpg city / 39 mpg highway / 32 mpg combined on the Altima S. Numbers drop slightly for the SV, SR and SL to 27 mpg city /37 mpg highway / 31 mpg combined. And AWD variants drop by about 1 mpg combined. The more powerful VC Turbo option delivers 25 mpg city / 34 mpg highway / 39 mpg combined.

Available AWD
With the last Altima redesign, Nissan added the option of AWD and this continues for the 2023 model. The AWD system automatically distributes as much as 50 percent of the torque to the rear wheels as needed. All-wheel drive is only available with the 2.5-liter engine.

Advanced Safety
All 2023 Altimas come with Nissan Safety Shield 360, the brand’s suite of advanced safety features. This suite includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, rear automatic braking, lane departure warning, blind-spot warning, rear cross-traffic alert and high-beam headlight assist.

ProPILOT Assist
Nissan continues to offer its ProPILOT Assist driver-assistance system for 2023. Standard on Altima SL and SR VC-Turbo (optional on SV), the ProPILOT Assist is a first step towards autonomous driving. By employing cameras, radar and other sensors, the system will provide steering assistance to keep the vehicle in the center of the lane as well as maintain a preset distance behind the preceding vehicle, matching speed as necessary. ProPILOT Assist can also slow the vehicle to a complete stop and hold — a convenient feature during heavy traffic conditions.
