2023 Cadillac LYRIQ
Today Cadillac premiered the production version of the 2023 Cadillac LYRIQ luxury SUV. This first all-electric vehicle from the GM luxury division looks virtually identical to the show car revealed last August. Cadillac also announced that LYRIQ development is ahead of schedule, so owners will be able to place order reservations in September 2021, with production scheduled to begin in early 2022. Starting MSRP will be $59,990 including destination charge.

Cadillac Next Decade
“Throughout the next decade, Cadillac will define the future of luxury transportation through a series of exciting new electric vehicles, and it all begins with LYRIQ,” said Global Cadillac Vice President Rory Harvey. “The 2023 Cadillac LYRIQ’s stunning design and artfully integrated technology combined with GM’s Ultium Platform will deliver a high-performance luxury experience unlike anything that has come before it, setting a new standard for Cadillac,” Harvey observed.

Electric Architecture
At launch, LYRIQ will feature cutting-edge technology and performance potential from electric architecture that combines a 12-module, 100 kilowatt-hour battery pack and a rear-wheel-drive Ultium Platform. The system delivers a Cadillac-estimated 340 horsepower and 325 lb-ft of torque. Cadillac also estimates LYRIQ will have a range of more than 300 miles on a full charge.

New Ultium Platform
“Thanks to the modular and highly flexible Ultium Platform that powers LYRIQ, along with advanced virtual development tools, Cadillac has been able to accelerate development and put more real-world miles on prototypes sooner than expected,” said Jamie Brewer, LYRIQ chief engineer. “It’s exciting to see our objectives realized on the road — and it means we are on track to bring this pioneering electric luxury vehicle to customers nine months earlier than originally planned,” Brewer enthused.

DC Fast Charging
LYRIQ also offers high-speed DC fast charging for public stations at 190 kW, which Cadillac estimates will add up to 76 miles of range in 10 minutes and up to 195 miles in 30 minutes of charge time. For charging at home, LYRIQ offers a segment-leading 19.2 kW charging module that requires installation of a 240 V 19.2 kW AC charging station, which can add up to 52 miles of range per hour of charge time. A 240 V 11.5 kW AC charging station will add up to 31 miles of range per hour of charge time. Using a standard 120 V household outlet will add about 3.5 miles of range per hour of charge.

New Design Direction
“LYRIQ represents a clean-sheet design that sets the standard for the future of Cadillac,” said Andrew Smith, executive director of Cadillac Design. “The objective I gave my team was to design the LYRIQ with the level of detail that they would a show car. The customer should feel like they’re driving in the future,” Smith noted. The design team accomplished Smith’s objective: the LYRIQ is virtually indistinguishable from the show car that debuted last August. A few subtle details changed, including larger mirrors, smaller wheels, door design and seating for five.

Exterior Design
Perhaps the most striking example of Cadillac’s next iteration of brand styling is LYRIQ’s distinctive black crystal grille. “We wanted to give the vehicle a face, making sure it looks distinctly Cadillac,” said Smith. The signature vertical lighting is emphasized through what Cadillac calls lighting choreography — a new lighting technology that lets engineers produce truly vertical lights.

Interior Design
Inside, the 2023 Cadillac LYRIQ features a clean, simple design highlighted by a 33-inch diagonal advanced LED display that includes both instrumentation and infotainment functions. Interior trim elements include intricate laser-etched patterns through wood over metal. Other highlights are Cadillac’s next-generation active noise cancellation system, an AKG Studio 19-speaker audio system with head restraint speakers, KeyPass digital vehicle access, and available Super Cruise hands-free driver-assistance technology for compatible roads.

Electric Driving Experience
To maximize the electric driving experience, the 2023 Cadillac LYRIQ will be equipped with next-generation variable Regen on Demand technology and will also offer one-pedal driving. The latest Regen on Demand system allows the driver to control how quickly LYRIQ slows down using a paddle located on the steering wheel. Both Regen on Demand and one-pedal driving utilize the regenerative brake system to maximize electric driving efficiency.

Color Palette
Cadillac will initially offer two exterior color choices for the 2023 LYRIQ: Satin Steel Metallic or Stellar Black Metallic, with the interior finished in Sky Cool Gray or Noir. Standard wheels are 20-inch Split 6-Spoke alloy, and optional wheels are 22-inch Dynamic Split-spoke Reverse Rim Alloy. The 20-inch alloys get fitted with 265/50R20 All Season self-sealing tires, while the 22-inch wheels receive 275/40R22 All Season self-sealing tires.
