2022 Ford Bronco Raptor
Following last year’s launch of an all-new Bronco SUV, Ford Performance now adds a new Raptor variant designed to be the most powerful Bronco ever. Inspired by the Ultra4 Racing off-road series with its signature event King of the Hammers, the 2022 Ford Bronco Raptor is engineered to excel at both high-speed desert running and low-speed rock crawling. The new Ford Performance Bronco Raptor joins the F-150 Raptor and the Ranger Raptor, the latter sold in other global markets although not currently offered in North America.

Aggressive Design
The 2022 Ford Bronco already has an aggressive design, and the Raptor version goes one better featuring revised body panels and large fender flares to make it 9.8 inches wider than a base 4-door Bronco. The new Bronco Raptor draws power from a turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 EcoBoost engine and receives a Raptor HOSS 4.0 race-ready suspension system, as well as 37-inch all-terrain tires as standard equipment.

The Real Deal

Bronco Raptor Equipment
The 2022 Ford Bronco Raptor is easily distinguished from other Bronco trim levels thanks to a bold grille, raised hood, revised fenders, wide flares, 37-inch tires and Raptor graphics. First seen on the F-150 Raptor, the Bronco Raptor’s grille includes bold FORD lettering across a two-piece black rectangular grille that wraps around the Raptor, specific LED headlights with amber DRLs, as well as amber running lights at the top of the grille. A heavy-duty modular steel front bumper from Ford Performance includes tow hooks, removable end caps, integrated removable Rigid LED fog lights and Rigid off-road lamps.

Raptor SMC Hood, Fenders
This new Bronco Raptor’s raised hood is constructed of sheet-molding compound and has an integrated hood vent. The hood gets molded-in-color Carbon Black with Raptor logos on either side. The Bronco Raptor receives unique front and rear fenders, fender flares and door appliques. Front and rear fenders are also made of sheet-molding compound, and the front fenders have integrated body-color heat extraction vents. The look is completed by reinforced rock rails with removable running boards. An available graphics package will add splatter graphics on the rear bodysides and hood in an overlapping trapezoidal pattern.

Under the Hood
The 2022 Ford Bronco Raptor is powered by a specifically tuned Raptor version of Ford’s twin-turbo 3.0-liter EcoBoost V6 engine. Although horsepower and torque ratings have not been released, according to Ford Performance the target is more than 400 horsepower, which will make Bronco Raptor the most powerful street-legal Bronco ever produced. The 3.0-liter EcoBoost gets mated with a 10-speed SelectShift automatic transmission tuned by Ford Performance. This rugged SUV sports 4-wheel drive with a 2-speed transfer case with 4H, 4L and 4A for automatic on-demand engagement. A dual exhaust system includes active-valve technology and four selectable exhaust modes: Normal, Sport, Quiet and Baja.

G.O.A.T. Terrain Management
The Bronco Raptor also receives an enhanced terrain management system named G.O.A.T. Modes, which stands for Goes Over Any Type of Terrain. The special system offers seven driver-selectable modes for improved performance in varying conditions. The uniquely tuned Baja mode includes a turbo anti-lag calibration for improved performance in high-speed desert conditions. Bronco Raptor also receives Tow / Haul mode for a tow rating of 4,500 pounds, which is an increase of 1,000 pounds over the base Bronco.

Race Inspired
Starting with Bronco’s fully boxed high-strength steel frame, Ford engineers made modifications to increase suspension travel and widen the track, including new shock towers that increase wheel travel and off-road durability. The driveline is protected by heavy-duty bash and skidplates from the front bumper to the back of the engine, transmission and transfer case. Additional reinforcement for the B-pillar crossbar and C-pillar increase torsional rigidity by more than 50 percent compared to the standard Bronco 4-door.

Performance Upgrades
Ford Performance developed axles for the Bronco Raptor that also get used on the Bronco DR race truck. The axles feature a semi-float Dana 50 Heavy-Duty AdvanTEK rear axle and a Dana 44 Heavy-Duty AdvanTEK front drive unit with upgraded half shafts. The upgraded axles increase the track by 8.6 inches compared to the base Bronco, and minimum ground clearance is 13.1 inches, which comes in at 4.8 inches more than the base 4-door. Front and rear driveshaft upgrades handle the Raptor’s increased torque.

Performance Shocks
Ford Performance worked with FOX to upgrade the High-Performance Off- Road Stability Suspension system with Live Valve technology. With a similar design to the F-150 Raptor’s position-sensitive damping design, the Raptor HOSS 4.0 system features FOX 3.1 internal bypass semi-active dampers (3.1-inch diameter) that are specifically tuned for Bronco Raptor. The front dampers feature integrated reservoirs with remote reservoirs in the rear, in addition to suspension height sensors and other sensors at each corner to monitor terrain conditions independently hundreds of times per second and then adjust suspension tuning accordingly.

Bronco Raptor Suspension
Ford Performance also designed unique front and rear control arms to deliver maximum wheel travel of 13.0 inches in front and 14.0 inches at the rear, or 60 percent and 40 percent more, respectively, than the Bronco base variant. The 2022 Ford Bronco Raptor gets 37-inch BFGoodrich KO2 all-terrain tires, and two Ford Performance-designed 17-inch beadlock capable wheels are offered. Larger diameter inner and outer tie-rod ends are added, and an electric power steering rack and housing were influenced by the F-150 Raptor.

Bronco Raptor Interior
The 2022 Ford Bronco Raptor interior features a heritage-inspired horizontal dash design with a digital 12-inch instrument cluster. This setup offers a selection of different views, including a Performance View that is exclusive to Bronco Raptor, which highlights tachometer and gear reading, with the ability to customize the gauges.

Bronco Raptor Accents
The standard Bronco Raptor interior features Black Onyx marine-grade vinyl seats, rubberized flooring and Ford Performance Code Orange accents for the G.O.A.T. Modes dial, dash vents, door netting, steering wheel stitching and Bronco logo on the instrument panel. The ignition start-stop button is also illuminated in Code Orange. Grab handles, the steering wheel bezel and gear shift have low-gloss carbon fiber accents.

Interior Upgrade
An optional interior upgrade for the 2022 Ford Bronco Raptor features laser-perforated Black Onyx Neo suede seats, a vinyl-wrapped instrument panel, leather-wrapped outer-seat bolsters as well as carpeted flooring. The upgrade also includes a thicker sport steering wheel with magnesium paddle shifters and a gloss black Raptor logo. Ford Performance-designed seats include aggressive foam side bolsters; Code Orange safety belts are offered.

Bronco Raptor Options
Standard equipment for Bronco Raptor includes a High Package with SUNC4 and a 12-inch touchscreen, swipe compatibility, an information-on-demand panel and enhanced voice recognition. Other options include a 10-speaker B&O audio system and adaptive cruise control.
