2021 Ford F-150 Tremor
Expanding its lineup of off-road trucks, today Ford premieres a 2021 F-150 Tremor with more capability than the truck’s existing FX4 package. The 2021 Ford F-150 Tremor follows the introduction of the 2021 Ranger Tremor in September and the 2020 Super Duty Tremor last year. The F-150 Tremor adds suspension upgrades and new off-road technology — including available enhanced Trail Control, Trail One-Pedal Drive and Trail Turn Assist — while still retaining excellent payload capacity and towing ability.

Exterior Updates
The new 2021 F-150 Tremor will be easily identified by a more aggressive front end, a unique hood, an F-150 Raptor-style front bash plate, a unique grille with a blacked-out Ford oval, and Raptor-inspired off-road fixed running boards mounted close to the body to minimize damage. Active Orange highlights include grille accents, front tow hooks, side vent accents and Tremor badging. The rear bumper incorporates cutouts for dual exhaust outlets on each side of black tow hooks.

New Tremor Model
“Like Super Duty Tremor and Ranger Tremor, introducing the all-new F-150 Tremor is a direct response to seeing how customers use our trucks to enable their outdoor lifestyles,” said Todd Eckert, Ford truck group marketing manager. “F-150 Tremor provides the additional off-road capability they’re looking for with our latest off-road technologies,” Eckert also noted.

SuperCrew Configuration
Ford offers the 2021 F-150 Tremor in 4-door SuperCrew configuration with a 5.5-foot box. Like all F-150s, Tremor features a high-strength steel frame and high-strength aluminum alloy body. Power comes from a 3.5-liter EcoBoost turbocharged V6 engine combined with a 10-speed automatic transmission and standard 4-wheel drive. Tremor is offered in three equipment groups of Standard, Mid and High, so the truck has a broad range of standard and optional equipment.

Suspension Upgrades
Suspension improvements for the 2021 Ford F-150 Tremor begin with upgrades to front and rear springs that increase ground clearance and tire contact. Front hub knuckles and upper control arms are modified, and new monotube front shocks and twin-tube rear shocks get tuned to Tremor specifications for softer damping at low speeds with additional damping for severe conditions. Tremor has an inch more of total travel in the front and 1.5 inches more total travel in the rear.

Off-Road Metrics
Ford outfits the 2021 F-150 Tremor with matte-finish 18-inch wheels and 33-inch General Grabber all-terrain tires for additional ground clearance and a wider stance. The suspension modifications, front bash plate and tires contribute to some impressive off-road metrics: an approach angle of 27.6 degrees, a breakover angle of 21.2 degrees and a departure angle of 24.3 degrees. Locking front and rear differentials are standard, with late availability of an optional Torsen limited-slip front differential for all three equipment levels. The High equipment group adds a torque-on-demand transfer case similar to the high-performance transfer case in F-150 Raptor, combining AWD and 4WD capabilities.

Tremor Interior
The Active Orange exterior accents of the 2021 Ford F-150 Tremor carry over to the interior, which features unique seat trim and TREMOR embroidered in the seatbacks. The Tremor interior includes Active Orange accent stitching as well as special materials and finishes for the seats, instrument panel, center console and doors. The overhead console includes an auxiliary power switch pack with six switches for additional equipment such as air compressors, winches or off-road lighting.

Full Capacity
Even with its increased off-road prowess, Tremor retains its full capability with a maximum conventional tow rating of 10,900 pounds for hauling recreational equipment, off-road toys or a boat. The truck also has a maximum payload rating of 1,885 pounds. Additionally, the 2021 Ford F-150 Tremor offers available Pro Power Onboard with 2.0 kW of exportable power in the truck bed for tools or other equipment such as air compressors.

Drive Modes
The 2021 Ford F-150 Tremor offers eight available drive modes to change vehicle settings for different driving conditions: Normal, Sport, Tow / Haul, Eco, Slippery and Deep Snow / Sand, Mud / Rut and Rock Crawl. When Rock Crawl is selected the locking rear differential automatically engages, stability control and traction control are turned off, throttle response gets reduced, shift points are altered and the 360-degree camera view is displayed in the center screen.

Off-Road Technology
Ford’s available Trail One-Pedal Drive is designed for difficult off-road situations such as rock crawling, when the driver would typically need to modulate both the accelerator and brake pedal at the same time. Trail One-Pedal Drive combines both functions in the accelerator pedal, moving the truck forward when the pedal is pressed and braking when the pedal is released. The brakes get applied proportionally when the driver lifts off the accelerator pedal.

Off-Road Tools
The Detroit automaker also offers Trail Toolbox for the 2021 Ford F-150 Tremor — a set of off-road assist features including Trail Turn Assist, which allows for tighter turns in low-speed off-road situations by applying the brake on the inside rear wheel to reduce the turning radius. An available 360-degree camera package provides a view of obstacles around the truck, and a front-view camera adds a tire track overlay to display the path of the leading wheels.
