Demon Offspring
Two years ago Dodge created the limited-edition Challenger Demon — an 840-horsepower beast ready to dominate the drag strip straight from the showroom. The much-hyped Demon was only available for one model year, and the small number produced sold out quickly. Although the brand synonymous with American muscle has no plans to build another Demon, today Dodge introduces Demon’s offspring — the 2020 Dodge Challenger SRT Super Stock.

Pricing Released
The all-new 2020 Dodge Challenger SRT Super Stock will have a starting price of $79,995. Customers may order the Super Stock from their local dealers later in August, with production starting this fall at the Brampton Assembly Plant in Ontario, Canada. Deliveries are expected to begin later this year.

Upholding the Dodge Brand

Most Powerful Muscle Car
The 2020 Dodge Challenger SRT Super Stock resides at the top of the SRT horsepower ladder — a very long ladder indeed. Under the hood lurks a 6.2-liter supercharged HEMI V8 engine that powers the Hellcat Redeye, but it has been recalibrated to deliver 807 horsepower and 707 lb-ft of torque, making it the most powerful production muscle car available.

Quickest
According to the folks at Dodge, the new SRT Super Stock is also now the quickest muscle car on the road. It can scream to 60 mph in a mere 3.25 seconds and will turn a quarter mile in 10.5 seconds at 131 mph. Top speed is limited to 168 mph because of tire compound limitations, but it’s also the tires that make the SRT Super Stock’s level of acceleration possible.

Sticky Tires
The Dodge Challenger SRT Super Stock gets built on the standard Dodge Widebody to accommodate very sticky 315/40R18 Nitto NT05R drag radials at each corner, mounted on lightweight 18-inch Low Gloss Granite wheels. The uniquely tuned Bilstein Adaptive Damping Suspension helps shift weight to the rear tires for better traction at launch. The Super Stock also comes with lightweight all-aluminum Brembo 4-piston brake calipers with 14.2-inch vented rotors as standard equipment.

Stealthy (Sort Of)
This new Challenger may be the most powerful vehicle in the Challenger lineup, but it isn’t obvious. For the most part it looks like a typical Challenger Hellcat, with no badges indicating it is the Super Stock. The only telltale signs are the wheels and tires — exclusive to this drag-race-ready muscle car.

Track Mode
Like other SRT models, this drag-racing Challenger offers several driving modes to adjust suspension, steering, transmission and other components. Unique to the Super Stock is a Track mode that properly sets up the car for runs at a drag strip. This includes disabling the traction control to allow the rear wheels to spin yet keeping the stability control engaged to help with straight-line performance, as well as setting the steering for high-speed stability and calibrating the automatic transmission for optimized acceleration.

Drag Race Features
All Super Stock models are equipped with a range of drag racing features that include Launch Assist, Launch Control, Line Lock, Torque Reserve and Race Cooldown — the latter keeps the engine’s cooling fans and coolant pumps operating even after the engine shuts down to cool the supercharger and prepare it for another run. The SRT Power Chiller is also standard, diverting air-conditioning refrigerant from the cabin to the heat exchanger in the supercharger, resulting in better performance.

Coming This Fall
The 2020 Dodge Challenger SRT Super Stock is not a limited-edition model like the Demon — it will be available to order this summer for anyone who wants one, with plans to continue through the 2021 model year. Deliveries are expected to begin later in 2020.
