Auto Show Retrospective
For both auto enthusiasts and everyday car shoppers, auto shows are the ultimate destination. Where else can the public see the latest new cars from multiple brands at one time —all under one roof? During 2019 more than 100 new production vehicles and concept cars debuted at shows around the world, ranging from fuel-efficient economy cars to highly capable SUVs to extreme high-performance sports machines. The year’s shows also reinforced a growing trend: the number of new electrified vehicles continues to grow, and the sedan is not dead yet. Covering the major shows that took place this year in Detroit, Chicago, Geneva, New York, Frankfurt, Tokyo and Los Angeles, here are the 2019 auto show highlights.

Acura MDX PMC Edition — Los Angeles
The MDX is Acura’s midsize premium SUV, but this particular MDX is something special. The MDX PMC Edition gets hand built at Acura’s Performance Manufacturing Center by the same master technicians that build the brand’s flagship supercar, the NSX. Painted exclusively in Valencia Red Pearl — a deep red nano-pigment that seems to glow — the MDX PMC adds to the sporty styling with a gloss black mesh grille, black chrome exhaust pipes, gloss black exterior trim and 20-inch black alloy wheels. Inside, the exclusive treatment continues with black Milano leather seats with Alcantara inserts, while black piping and red stitching provide a premium look throughout the interior. Only 300 of these hand-crafted MDX variants will be available in America; a plaque on the lower console displays the individual serial number of each PMC. The base price is expected to be in the mid-$60,000 range.

Acura TLX PMC Edition — New York
Like the MDX PMC, this special TLX is handcrafted in Acura’s Performance Manufacturing Center. With a limited production run, the 2020 TLX PMC Edition is distinguished by its deeply lustrous and grade-exclusive Valencia Red Pearl paint with nano-pigment technology, applied in the factory’s advanced paint facility. The TLX PMC stands out with the special eye-catching paint color as well as a body-color grille surround, gloss black painted roof and door handles; gloss black 19-inch wheels and lug nuts; body-color side mirror housings, and dark chrome 4-inch dual exhaust finishers. Inside, the TLX PMC Edition features black Milano leather seats with Alcantara inserts and black piping; red stitching for the seats, door panels, and center armrest; an A-Spec steering wheel with perforated black leather, red stitching and metal-finished paddle shifters. Deliveries of the 2020 TLX PMC Edition began this summer at an MSRP of $48,950.

Alfa Romeo Tonale — Geneva
Named after a mountain pass in the Italian Alps, the Tonale concept premiered in Geneva as the first plug-in hybrid and the first premium compact SUV for Alfa Romeo. More compact than the current Alfa Romeo Stelvio, the exterior design of the Tonale concept exhibits a familial resemblance to Stelvio, with a modern look that still manages to reflect brand heritage. The 21-inch Tonale “phone dial” wheel design uses lightweight architectural construction to create a wheel that reflects those on the Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale in the 1960s. The Alfa Romeo Scudetto grille gets flanked by “3 plus 3” lighting — a tribute to the light design of earlier Alfa Romeo SZ and Brera models. Inside, the Tonale concept features a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen. The driver-oriented interior combines materials such as leather, Alcantara and aluminum with translucent backlit panels. No word yet regarding future plans for this stylish crossover concept.

Aston Martin AM-RB 003 (Valhalla) — Geneva
Just as deliveries were beginning for the extreme Aston Martin Valkyrie, the British marque took the wraps off the Valkyrie’s successor at this year’s Geneva Motor Show. Initially called the AM-RB 003 — the RB represents Red Bull’s involvement in the project — this new model has now been given a proper “V” name — Valhalla. The Valhalla features all the performance expected of a hypercar but with slightly more practicality. The center console has been widened to provide more space between driver and passenger, and there is even some luggage space behind the seats. Although there’s no denying that Valhalla is one sexy-looking machine, the shape and design are primarily driven by aerodynamics. In true exotic fashion, the Valhalla employs next-generation aircraft morphing technology that can create a variable airfoil across the entire rear wing for improved downforce. Only 500 Valhallas will be sold when the new model becomes available in 2021.

Aston Martin DBX — Los Angeles
Aston Martin becomes the latest exclusive brand to join the SUV fray with the all-new DBX. The DBX will be the first SUV to wear the Aston Martin name in the company’s 106-year history, and one look at this new model confirms it is clearly, purely Aston Martin. Inside, occupants discover the level of elegance expected of an Aston Martin, including sport seats covered in available full-grain leather from Bridge of Weir, with Alcantara covering the headliner as well as the roof blind. Rear seats are quite roomy, offering almost as much legroom as found in the front seat. Although luxurious surroundings remain important, Aston Martins are all about performance — and the DBX certainly shouldn’t disappoint. Power comes from a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine sourced from Mercedes-AMG that generates 542 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque. The DBX can sprint to 60 mph in 4.3 seconds and boasts a top speed of 181 mph. Power gets managed via a 9-speed automatic transmission that sends power to a sophisticated all-wheel-drive system with an active center differential and a limited-slip rear differential. The DBX will roll into showrooms during the second half of 2020.

Aston Martin Lagonda All-Terrain Concept — Geneva
At the 2018 Geneva Motor Show, Aston Martin announced the return of the Lagonda marque as a new brand of luxury zero-emission vehicles, and this year Lagonda provided a closer look at the brand’s vision via the All-Terrain Concept. An evolution of the Lagonda Vision Concept shown last year, the All-Terrain Concept adds a more distinctive grille and somewhat traditionally shaped swept-back headlights, deeply sculpted doors and a sleek roofline that flows smoothly from the windshield. At the rear, a unique clamshell hatch extends the length of the vehicle with lighting set into the clamshell and reflected downward. The Lagonda All-Terrain Concept is a fully-electric SUV with batteries stored in the floor, which stiffens the chassis and allowed the designers to add large rear-hinged doors and easy access for passengers. The elegant interior offers room for four occupants with large bucket seats. The front seats swivel toward the rear for group interaction during autonomous driving. Overall, the interior has a look and feel more like a living room than a vehicle.
Aston Martin Vanquish Concept — Geneva
Mid-engine sports cars were the big news at the Aston Martin display at the 2019 Geneva show. Alongside the Valkyrie, Valkyrie AMR Pro and new AM-RB 003, the British marque showed a fourth mid-engine sports car: the Vanquish Vision Concept. The Vanquish has been Aston’s flagship sports car, so it seems fitting that this name returns to the lineup for such an exotic new model. Technical details are still a bit scarce and will remain so until further development occurs on this new model, but we do know it will be powered by a version of Aston Martin’s new V6 engine that will be used as part of the hybrid system in the Valhalla. The vehicle will be built on a unique bonded-aluminum chassis. Aston Martin expects the production version of this new exotic to arrive in 2022.

Audi AI:TRAIL — Frankfurt
The Trail is the fourth and final vehicle in the AI series of advanced concept vehicles from Audi, joining the AICON, AI:RACE and AI:ME. While the first three represented luxury, performance and city driving, respectively, this final version is ready to head off-road. AI:TRAIL is fully electric, designed to handle rough terrain with enough battery life to adventure far from civilization. Sporting massive 22-inch wheels, the AI:TRAIL is built for heading off the beaten path. Ground clearance is a very high 13.4 inches, and the AI:TRAIL can even ford 1.6 feet of water. Like the other AI concepts, the AI:TRAIL is capable of autonomous driving, allowing its passengers to relax and enjoy the scenery. Large windows all around give occupants a great view of the surroundings thanks to a glass roof as well as additional glass below the windshield that provides a better view of the upcoming terrain. The AI:TRAIL has a unique lighting system — rather than employing conventional headlights, the AI:TRAIL carries a series of highly-efficient drones with matrix LED lighting. These can attach themselves to the vehicle or fly ahead to light the way.

2020 Audi e-tron Sportback — Los Angeles
Less than one year after Audi introduced the e-tron fully-electric vehicle, at the 2019 L.A. Auto Show the company took the wraps off its next electric model, the e-tron Sportback. Referred to as an “SUV Coupe,” the 5-passenger Sportback pairs Audi’s electric drivetrain with a stylish and more aerodynamic body. In fact, the coefficient of drag is a very low 0.25 — even lower than the original e-tron. This slippery design has increased the Sportback’s range to an estimated 277 miles per charge. The e-tron Sportback 55 quattro features an electric motor on each axle that when combined produce 355 horsepower and 413 lb-ft of torque. However, when a driver pushes the accelerator to the floor in Sport mode then Boost mode gets activated, which delivers just over 400 horsepower and around 490 lb-ft of torque for much quicker acceleration — albeit for up to 8 seconds only.

Audi Q4 e-tron — Geneva
Audi debuted the Q4 e-tron concept in Geneva — an all-electric compact SUV that will be the fifth series production electric vehicle from Audi when it rolls out at the end of 2020. Two electric motors power the front and rear axles of Q4 e-tron, with a total system output of 302 horsepower. The rear motor produces 201 horsepower and the front motor produces 101 horsepower, allowing Q4 e-tron to accelerate from zero to 62 mph in 6.3 seconds. Top speed is electronically limited to 112 mph. The 82 kWh battery is positioned in the underbody between the axles and can be charged to 80 percent capacity in a little more than 30 minutes. There is no mechanical link between the axles, but an electronic control system distributes torque to both axles for quattro all-wheel drive. Torque is generally delivered with a rear-wheel bias, but the system can apply more torque to the front axle as need.

2020 Audi R8 V10 — New York
The 2020 Audi R8 is the next generation of Audi’s 2-seat mid-engine performance car with revised exterior styling and more powerful engines. The new Audi R8 continues to be offered in both Coupe and Spyder versions, and also adds a limited-edition R8 V10 Decennium to celebrate 10 years of R8 V10 performance. The new R8 features an updated front bumper, new honeycomb grille with R8 badge, darkened headlights, oval exhaust outlets and new rear diffuser. Forged 19-inch 5-double-spoke wheels with an anthracite bi-color finish are standard, with 20-inch 10-spoke Y-design forged wheels in high gloss anthracite optional. The 2020 R8 V10 Spyder is powered by a normally-aspirated 5.2-liter V10 engine that produces 562 horsepower — or 602 horsepower in the Performance variant. The R8 V10 Spyder features a cloth top that can be opened in 20 seconds at speeds up to 31 mph.

2020 Audi RS 6 Avant — Frankfurt
A particular niche of auto enthusiasts in the U.S. have been pining for the Audi RS6 Avant — a high-performance all-wheel-drive luxury wagon that has never been sold in America. Pining will no longer be necessary; in Frankfurt the German automaker announced that the new RS6 Avant will finally make it to U.S. shores. The RS6 Avant sports a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine that generates a plentiful 591 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque. With a quick-shifting 8-speed Tiptronic transmission and quattro all-wheel drive, this not-so-small wagon can sprint to 62 mph (100 km/h) in a supercar-like 3.6 seconds. The RS adaptive air suspension and wheel-selective torque control ensure excellent handling when the road becomes twisty. The RS6 Avant gets styling to match its performance with broad wheel arches and a three-dimensional RS-specific honeycomb structure in the signature Singleframe grille, finished in gloss black. At the rear is a roof edge spoiler as well as dual oval tailpipes. The RS6 Avant will arrive in America in 2020.

2020 Audi RS 7 — Frankfurt
The Audi RS 7 has long been one of our favorite luxury performance cars, so the introduction of the next generation is nothing but good news. Designed to stand out further from the more common A7, the RS 7 sits lower to the ground and thanks to larger fender flares it stands 1.6 inches wider than the A7. With a unique Singleframe grille and large air intakes with vertical fins, the RS 7 looks mean. The interior reflects performance styling with RS Sport seats covered in Nappa leather as well as contrasting stitching to bring a splash of color throughout the cabin. A flat-bottomed RS Sport leather steering wheel with aluminum shift paddles adds to the look. The RS 7 doesn’t merely look fast — under the hood lurks a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 cranking out 600 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque, which will move this sleek 4-door sedan to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 3.6 seconds. With the optional Dynamic Plus package, the RS 7 tops out at almost 190 mph.

2020 Audi RS Q8 — Los Angeles
Audi introduced the Q8 flagship SUV a few years ago, and in typical fashion for the company, it’s now time to premiere a more powerful variant. Vehicles in the Audi lineup that wear the RS badge are the most extreme specimens offered, and the RS Q8 is no exception. Proving its performance capabilities, the RS Q8 recently completed a circuit of Germany’s Nurburgring racetrack in 7:42.2, making it the fastest production SUV to lap this famed track. Motivating this high-performance SUV is a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine that produces 591 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque. Power gets sent to Audi’s quattro all-wheel-drive system via an 8-speed Tiptronic transmission. The RS Q8 is not a small SUV, but excellent traction and plenty of power help it sprint to 60 mph in 3.8 seconds with a top speed of almost 190 mph when equipped with RS Ceramic brakes. The RS Q8 uses active torque vectoring to direct power front or back as well as to the right or left rear wheels for improved handling and stability. The RS Q8 should begin arriving in showrooms next year.

2019 Audi TT RS — New York
The 2019 Audi TT RS made its U.S. debut at the New York Auto Show with a new, more aggressive front-end and additional standard equipment. The new TT RS features a matte black Singleframe grille with quattro script in matte titanium, additional radiators behind the honeycomb grille, lateral air inlets that extend to the front wheels, and a continuous front spoiler. At the rear a new fixed spoiler is added, as well as large oval exhaust outlets. Looking inside this TT, heated front Fine Nappa leather RS Sport seats with honeycomb stitching are standard, and new updates include contrast-stitch leather accents for the door armrests and center console, as well as red or blue accents for air vents, seats and seat belts. The 2019 TT RS is powered by a turbocharged inline 5-cylinder engine that produces 394 horsepower and 354 lb-ft of torque and can accelerate from zero to 60 mph in 3.6 seconds. Power gets delivered through a 7-speed S tronic dual-clutch transmission and quattro all-wheel drive, which can deliver up to nearly 100 percent of the available torque to the rear wheels.

2020 Bentley Bentayga Speed — Geneva
Making its world debut at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show, the Bentley Bentayga Speed is the most powerful and performance-oriented Bentayga offered, motivated by a 6.0-liter W12 engine that produces 626 horsepower and 664 lb-ft of torque. Combined with an 8-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive, Bentayga Speed will accelerate from zero to 62 mph in 3.9 seconds on its way to a top speed of 190 mph. Bentayga Speed can be identified by a dark-tint matrix grille, dark-tint bumper grilles, dark-tint headlights, body-color side skirts, a body-color front splitter, a liftgate spoiler and Speed badges on the lower edge of the front doors. New 22-inch 10-spoke wheels are offered in three colors: silver, dark-tint or black. Inside, Bentayga Speed adds accents around the door, door grab handle, outer seat cushions, seatback bolsters and lower console. The seats include contrasting stitching, Alcantara and embroidered “Speed” at the top of the seatbacks.

Bentley EXP 100 GT — Pebble Beach
It’s been 100 years since Walter Owen Bentley created his eponymous car company, and to honor this momentous occasion the famed British marque revealed its latest creation at Pebble Beach: the EXP 100 GT. The EXP 100 GT is advanced in practically every way, with a high-tech electric powertrain, autonomous driving abilities, futuristic artificial intelligence and a design that reflects a future Bentley. The company sees this concept as the Grand Tourer one could expect to drive in the year 2035. As a proper grand tourer, the EXP 100 GT possesses grand dimensions, measuring almost 20 feet long and close to eight feet wide. While the design of the EXP 100 GT is thoroughly modern, styling cues abound that reference Bentley’s rich past. Up front big, round headlights overlap the grille — a look similar to the powerful Blower Bentleys of the 1920s. Bentley designed the EXP 100 GT to be relished by a driver who loves the thrill of carving a mountain road or cruising a curvy coastline. But for those times when the driver chooses to disengage — sitting in traffic, crossing Montana on a long, straight highway — autonomous mode can be employed.

2020 BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe — Los Angeles
BMW debuted the 2 Series Gran Coupe in Los Angeles — a new 4-door addition to the 2 Series lineup that already features a 2-door coupe and convertible. The 2 Series Gran Coupe will be offered for the U.S. market as the 228i xDrive and the M235i xDrive, and features the fast roofline of a coupe with the room and versatility of a 4-door sedan. The 2 Series Gran Coupe receives a new near-actuator wheelslip limitation system — technology from the BMW i3. The 228i xDrive Gran Coupe has a turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder producing 228 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque, while the M235i xDrive is also powered by a version of the turbocharged 2.0-liter engine producing 301 horsepower and 332 lb-ft of torque. The M235i xDrive receives a standard mechanical Torsen limited-slip differential integrated into the 8-speed automatic transmission that can lock the differential between the front wheels. The 2020 BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe is scheduled to go on sale in March 2020.

2019 BMW 7 Series — Geneva
BMW’s new 7 Series made its public debut at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show with exterior updates, new technology and the addition of a new 6-cylinder plug-in hybrid. The new exterior design is dominated by a larger kidney grille surrounded by a single-piece frame that is 40 percent larger than the previous model year. The Active Kidney Grille includes adjustable vanes that only open when more cooling air is needed, flanked by slim headlight units with standard Adaptive Full LED lights and available BMW Laserlight. The redesigned hood adds sculpted contour lines and overall the front of the car is 2 inches taller than the previous model. The front bumper is redesigned, the rear bumper is new, and the three-dimensional taillights are slimmer and connected by a thin light strip. The 7 Series offers a range of engines that top out with a 6.6-liter twin turbocharged V12 engine that puts out 600 horsepower and 627 lb-ft of torque in the M760i xDrive. The new plug-in hybrid 745e xDrive teams a 3.0-liter 6-cylinder engine with an electric motor for total system output in Sport mode of 389 horsepower and 442 lb-ft of torque.

BMW Concept 4 — Frankfurt
BMW debuted the Concept 4 in Frankfurt — a look at the future of the 4 Series Coupe, with styling that draws from historical elements and aims to distinguish the coupe further from the 3 Series Sedan. The classic coupe silhouette and proportions yield a long hood, sweeping roofline and short overhangs, but the most striking element of the design is the bold vertical kidney grille. BMW describes the front end of the Concept 4 as the new face of the 4 Series with its vertical kidney grille flanked by large air intakes and slim headlights that slant back from the grille’s upper edges. Finished in Forbidden Red paint, the Concept 4 roofline flows into the trunk lid and the window opening is narrow to emphasize the bold fenders. In BMW parlance, Vision is the name for a design that is looking farther into the future, but Concept is used when the design is close to production. Don’t be surprised if a new BMW 4 Series debuts soon — and that it looks a lot like the BMW Concept 4.

2020 BMW M2 CS — Los Angeles
BMW premiered the new top-performance version of the M2 in the City of Angels: the 2020 M2 CS, which is tuned and optimized for the racetrack while still suitable for everyday driving. The M2 CS was developed alongside the M2 CS Racing model, which will be available through BMW Motorsport for customer racing. Power comes from a 3.0-liter M TwinPower Turbo 6-cylinder engine producing 444 horsepower and 406 lb-ft of torque — an increase of 39 horsepower over the M2 Competition. The M2 CS is offered with either a standard 6-speed manual transmission or the M Double Clutch Transmission and will accelerate from zero to 60 mph in 4.0 seconds with the 6-speed manual, or 3.8 seconds with the M DCT and reach a top track speed of 174 mph. To handle that additional power, the BMW M2 CS comes standard with Adaptive M suspension as well as M Sport brakes with 6-piston front calipers and 4-piston rear calipers. Carbon fiber is used for the hood, roof, mirror caps, front splitter, rear diffuser and rear spoiler. The 2020 BMW M2 CS will be produced for one model year only, beginning in March 2020.

2020 BMW M8 Gran Coupe — Los Angeles
BMW also featured the new 2020 M8 Gran Coupe and M8 Gran Coupe Competition at the 2019 Los Angeles Auto Show. Joining the M8 lineup alongside the M8 Coupe and Convertible, the M8 Gran Coupe is 9.1 inches longer, 1.4 inches wider and 2.3 inches taller than the two-door Coupe and rides on a 7.9-inch longer wheelbase. The additional length means a much more spacious rear seat. Like the rest of the M8 lineup, the Gran Coupe is powered by a 4.4-liter M TwinPower Turbo V8 engine producing 600 horsepower and 553 lb-ft of torque, teamed with an 8-speed M Steptronic transmission and M xDrive all-wheel drive system. The M8 Gran Coupe Competition pumps power to 617 horses and 553 lb-ft of torque. A limited run of just 50 M8 Gran Coupe First Editions will be available. These special versions will be finished in Diamant Green Metallic, with the BMW Kidney grille, side air vent trim, mirror trim, window trim, exterior badging, sill plates and 20-inch forged M Star-Spoke wheels finished in GOLDBRONZE. Inside, the M8 First Edition features Ivory White / Tartufo Full Merino leather and Piano Black trim.

Bugatti Centodieci — Pebble Beach
Celebrating the marque’s 110th anniversary, Bugatti chose Pebble Beach to unveil the very exclusive Centodieci — a car designed as a tribute to a previous Bugatti supercar, the EB110. The Centodieci is based on Bugatti’s current extreme supercar, the Chiron; however, designers and engineers had significant hurdles to overcome beyond simply swapping out Chiron body panels to create the Centodieci. The Chiron’s complex design incorporates bodywork as an integral part of the car’s aerodynamics and cooling, as well as its high speed. While the original EB 110 was powered by a V12, the Centodieci features Bugatti’s incredible 8.0-liter W16 engine that produces almost three times the power of that original V12 — 1600 horsepower. The sprint to 62 mph occurs in a lightning-like 2.4 seconds, 124 mph goes by in 6.1 seconds and in a bit over 13 seconds this Bugatti will be accelerating past 186 mph. Engineers were able to reduce the weight of the Centodieci compared to the Chiron, which permits even better performance and handling. Bugatti will build only 10 of the Centodieci, with the price starting at €8 million (US$8.9 million). Don’t bother reaching for that checkbook — all 10 have been sold.
Bugatti La Voiture Noire – Geneva
For the 2019 Geneva Motor Show, Bugatti created a handcrafted, one-off hyper sports car, the La Voiture Noire. Produced for a Bugatti enthusiast, La Voiture Noire is a stunning, sleek grand touring coupe with sculpted bodywork in black carbon fiber — a modern sports car that pays tribute to the legendary Bugatti Type 57 SC Atlantic developed by Ettore Bugatti’s son, Jean. Under the hood of the Bugatti La Voiture Noire is the same 8.0-liter W16 engine with quad turbochargers producing 1500 horsepower and 1180 lb-ft of torque that powers the Bugatti Chiron Sport. “For Bugatti, ‘La Voiture Noire’ is more than just a reminiscence of the Atlantic,” said Bugatti President Stephan Winkelmann. “We are paying tribute to a long tradition, to France and to the creative work of Jean Bugatti.” According to Bugatti, a car collector purchased La Voiture Noire for 11 million Euros — approximately 12.4 million dollars — making it the world’s most expensive new car.

Byton M-Byte — Frankfurt
Byton is not a common automaker name to most American consumers, but that might change in years to come. The company based in Nanjing, China, has a global design studio in Munich, Germany, and a research and development facility in Santa Clara, California. At the 2019 Frankfurt Motor Show, Byton took the wraps off its first production vehicle, the M-Byte crossover. Designed around connectivity and personal experience, the M-Byte is described by the company as a “next-generation smart device on wheels.” All this gets wrapped in a stylish crossover with an advanced electric powertrain. The M-Byte’s interior sets it apart from other crossover offerings, primarily with a large display screen that stretches the width of the dashboard, located right below the windshield. The display can be customized to each individual, changing via facial recognition. The interface is designed to be as natural as possible, with interactions occurring via voice, gesture and touch control. The M-Byte is slated to go on sale in China in 2020, and arrive in Europe and the U.S. in 2021.

2020 Cadillac CT5 — New York
The big news at Cadillac’s press preview in New York was the introduction of the all-new CT5 compact sedan, offered in both Luxury and Sport versions. Built on Cadillac’s rear-wheel-drive architecture, the CT5 features a fastback profile inspired by the Escala concept car; it moves away from Cadillac’s hard-edged designs with a more fluid and sculpted design language. The 2020 CT5 will be offered in three trim levels: Luxury, Premium Luxury and Sport, with a Platinum Package available for Premium Luxury and Sport. The standard engine is a 2.-0-liter twin-scroll turbo engine that produces an estimated 237 horsepower, while the Luxury Premium and the Sport can be equipped with the more powerful 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 that produces an estimated 335 horsepower. Both engines are combined with a 10-speed automatic transmission; all-wheel drive is available. Cadillac’s Super Cruise technology — a hands-free driver assistance technology for highway driving — will be available in calendar year 2020 on select CT5 trim levels.

2020 Cadillac XT6 — Detroit
With the promise of introducing an all-new model every six months for the next several years, Cadillac debuted the all-new XT6 at the 2019 North American International Auto Show in Detroit. This all-new 3-row crossover carries occupants in luxurious surroundings, thanks to features such as Cadillac’s first Bose Performance Series sound system with 14 speakers, available semi-aniline premium leather seating, automatic heated and ventilated front- and second-row seats, and an automatically heated steering wheel. Powering the brand-new XT6 is a 3.6-liter V6 engine that produces 310 horsepower, teamed with a 9-speed automatic transmission. Active Fuel Management is standard, which can help reduce fuel consumption by shutting down two cylinders when V6 power is not required. The stylish new crossover also gets the latest in safety technology with features such as forward collision alert, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, front and rear park assist, rear cross-traffic alert and a rearview camera with remote wash.

2020 Chevrolet Silverado HD — Chicago
This seems to be the year of the heavy-duty truck — all three of the big truckmakers are introducing new workhorse models with plenty of jockeying to see which is the most powerful and capable. In Chicago Chevrolet took the wraps off its all-new Silverado HD with bold new styling, a range of updated features and more capability than ever before. Longer, wider and taller than its predecessor, Silverado HD is available in a number of trim and cab configurations ranging from the basic Work Truck to the luxurious High Country. Two powerful engines are available for the Silverado HD: a 401-horsepower 6.6-liter V8 and a Duramax 6.6-liter turbodiesel — the latter generating 445 horsepower and 910 lb-ft of torque. That big torque number is enough to increase maximum towing capacity to an incredible 35,500 pounds. The diesel is teamed with an all-new 10-speed automatic transmission. The list of available features is long and includes a power-operated tailgate, 15 camera views, a head-up display and integrated side steps for easy access to the bed.

2021 Chevrolet Trailblazer — Los Angeles
It’s been more than 10 years since Chevrolet sold a Trailblazer — and now the nameplate is back, worn by a stylish small crossover in the Chevy lineup. “Slotting between the Trax and Equinox, the addition of the Trailblazer provides us with a great opportunity to expand the Chevy SUV family to new audiences,” said Steve Majoros, director of Chevrolet passenger car and crossover marketing. With styling that fits well with the recently returned Blazer, the Trailblazer will be available in a variety of trim levels including the sporty RS and more adventurous ACTIV. Trailblazer will offer the latest Chevrolet infotainment system that includes wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as the ability for occupants to use two paired Bluetooth devices simultaneously. Power will come from either a 1.2- or a 1.3-liter turbo engine with maximum 155 horsepower available. Both engines get teamed with a continuously-variable transmission. Trailblazer will be available with front- or all-wheel drive, with the all-wheel-drive system selectable so it can be turned off when unneeded for better fuel efficiency. Trailblazer is expected to arrive in showrooms next spring.

2020 Dodge Challenger 50th Anniversary Edition — Los Angeles
Dodge celebrates the 50th anniversary of the Challenger with a limited-production 50th Anniversary Edition that debuted at the 2019 L.A. Auto Show. The 50th Anniversary Edition will be offered on four Challenger trim levels: Challenger GT RWD, R/T Shaker, R/T Scat Pack Shaker and R/T Scat Pack Shaker Widebody. In addition, the 2020 Challenger SRT Hellcat and Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye models will feature a 50th Anniversary grille badge. A body-color Shaker hood scoop is standard on the R/T, R/T Scat Pack and R/T Scat Pack Widebody when equipped with the 50th Anniversary package. Gold Rush, a new high-impact paint color will be available for the first time on Challenger 50th Anniversary Editions. Dodge will produce a total of 1960 Challenger 50th Anniversary models, each featuring a satin black hand-painted hood, black wrapped roof and trunk lid, 50th Anniversary badges and 20-inch “Gold School” wheels. Inside, the 50th Anniversary Edition features premium Nappa leather and Alcantara, Sepia accent stitching, real carbon fiber accents, “50” logos, and Challenger 50th Anniversary logo numbered instrument panel badge. The Challenger 50th Anniversary Edition package starts at $4,995, and dealer orders begin December 2019 and are scheduled to start arriving in spring 2020.

Dodge Mopar Lowliner Concept — SEMA
Believe it or not, this beautiful piece of mobile artwork started life as a 1968 Dodge D200-Series heavy-duty pickup truck. Mopar designers took the original frame of the rear-wheel-drive truck and transformed it by lengthening the wheelbase and lowering it substantially. A custom air suspension allows for three modes: low, driving height and driving height plus. Covered in a tasty-sounding Candied Delmonico Red and Dairy Cream paint, the lowrider sits on 22-inch wheels — 11 inches wide in the rear for a more aggressive look. The powertrain is a 5.9-liter Cummins diesel showcased via the power-tilt front end. The exterior of the Lowliner Concept has a clean design, eliminating door handles, badging, the fuel-filler cap and antenna. At the front are 7-inch LED headlights — a significant upgrade from the originals. Inside is a classic bench seat, but this one is covered in Blazing Saddle tan leather. The Mopar logo is stitched into the leather headliner. As a nostalgic touch, the original 1968 steering wheel remains in place with the original Dodge emblem at the center.

2019 Ferrari F8 Tributo — Geneva
The two-seat mid-engine V8-powered Ferrari has been one of the most coveted sports cars in the world for years, and this year in Geneva Ferrari debuted the newest and most powerful version ever: the Ferrari F8 Tributo. Replacing the 488 GTB model in the Ferrari lineup, the Ferrari F8 Tributo traces its lineage back to the classic Ferrari 308 GTB of the 1970s as the most powerful, aerodynamic and sophisticated model to date. Designed by the Ferrari Styling Centre, the F8 Tributo offers a new design with emphasis on high performance and aerodynamic improvement. The new aerodynamic package developed on the track includes elements adopted from the 488 Pista, with a 10 percent improvement in aerodynamic efficiency. The F8 Tributo boasts the most powerful V8 engine in Ferrari history for a series-production model. The 3.9-liter turbocharged 90-degree V8 produces 710 horsepower and 568 lb-ft of torque — 50 more horses than the outgoing 488 GTB. According to Ferrari, the F8 Tributo will sprint to 62 mph in a mere 2.9 seconds, reaching 124 mph in 7.8 seconds with a top speed of 210 mph.

1968 Ford Bronco by Jay Leno — SEMA
At the 2019 Specialty Equipment Market Association trade show in Las Vegas, comedian Jay Leno was on hand to tell the story of this 1968 Ford Bronco. The junked Bronco was gifted to Leno by fellow comedian and late-night TV host Craig Ferguson as a joke on Leno’s last taping of The Tonight Show — deposited in Leno’s personal parking space on the studio lot. At the time the Bronco was a complete wreck (thus the joke), but Leno knew how desirable these classic Broncos are. After sitting unrestored, the Bronco underwent a long restoration and customization process under the guidance of Leno, who worked with Ford Performance and SEMA Garage to create this sleeper of a classic Bronco. We call it a sleeper because — from the outside — this looks like a painstakingly-restored Bronco, but nothing more. The surprise is what Leno put under the hood. This Bronco is powered by the same 5.2-liter supercharged V8 engine in the all-new Mustang Shelby GT500, which generates 760 horsepower — about 10 times the potency of the original Bronco. Jay also had TREMEC create a custom 5-speed manual transmission since the GT500 is not available with a manual.

2020 Ford Escape — New York
Although Ford has announced the end of its entire passenger car lineup, the company’s crossover investment is stronger than ever. Case in point: Ford’s introduction of the all-new 2020 Escape, which was on display in New York. The 2020 Ford Escape is lower, wider and longer than its predecessor, with a look that is quite a departure from the current generation. The front end features an all-new grille that is surprisingly similar to those on the Focus or Fusion passenger cars, rather than the new Explorer SUV. The new 2020 Escape will be available with a choice of four engines; the standard unit will be a 1.5-liter EcoBoost 3-cylinder expected to produce 180 horsepower and 177 lb-ft of torque. For a higher level of performance, the 2020 Escape also offers Ford’s 2.0-liter EcoBoost 4-cylinder engine rated at 250 horsepower and 275 lb-ft of torque. When properly equipped, the Escape with this powerplant can tow up to 3,500 pounds. Ford has also revived the Escape Hybrid — for the 2020 model there will be a standard hybrid as well as a plug-in version.

2020 Ford Explorer — Detroit
The Ford Explorer is a big deal for the Dearborn-based automaker. Since its introduction in 1991, this seminal sport utility has sold extremely well — almost 8 million units — establishing it as the best-selling SUV of all time. The new 2020 Explorer is built on an all-new rear-wheel-drive flexible architecture designed to improve ride and handling as well as the vehicle’s overall capability. Giving the Explorer a high-tech feel is an optional 10.1-inch touchscreen mounted in portrait configuration — similar to a tablet or smartphone — as well as an available 12.3-inch all-digital instrument cluster. The standard engine in the new Explorer is a 2.3-liter EcoBoost 4-cylinder unit producing 300 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque. Ford will also offer two new variants — a 400-horsepower Explorer ST and a fuel-efficient Explorer Hybrid.

Ford Mustang Lithium by Webasto Customized Solutions — SEMA
Considering the continued electrification of the automobile by nearly every car company, it may only be a matter of time before classic V8-powered performance cars such as the Mustang go fully electric. Ford Performance teamed up with Webasto Customized Solutions to create this unique Mustang “Lithium” concept for the 2019 SEMA show. Instead of a V8, this Mustang features an electric motor powered by a 75 kWh battery pack that generates 900 horsepower and more than 1000 lb-ft of torque. Even more unusual: the electric motor is teamed with a 6-speed manual transmission. This powerful Mustang also gets a Ford Performance half-shaft upgrade kit, a Super 8.8 Torsen differential and a short-throw shifter. Additional Ford Performance modifications include street lowering springs, a sway bar kit, a strut tower brace and a GT350R brake kit. Keeping that power on the road are Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires fitted to 20-inch Forgeline wheels. Inside are Recaro Sportster GT seats as well as a 10.4-inch display screen.

2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E — Los Angeles
For the first time in its 50-plus year history, the Mustang name will be affixed to something that isn’t a sporty coupe or convertible. Not only will the all-new Mustang Mach-E be the first SUV to feature the running pony logo, it will also be the first mainstream electric vehicle from Ford. Clear visual cues connect the Mach-E with classic Mustang styling, such as the running pony logo up front and center in what would be the grille if the electric Mach-E needed a grille. At the rear are familiar Mustang taillights that illuminate in sequence. The Mach-E generating the most attention is the GT, which will feature all-wheel drive with dual electric motors generating 459 horsepower and 612 lb-ft of torque. Ford estimates a sprint to 60 mph will happen in about 3.5 seconds. Depending on trim level, the Mach-E will be available with battery packs that offer either a standard or an extended range. For rear-wheel-drive variants with the extended-range battery, Ford estimates a range of 300 miles on a single full charge. Prices for the Mustang Mach-E will start at $43,895 when it arrives late next year.

2020 Ford Shelby GT500 — Detroit
With more than 700 horsepower on tap, the all-new Shelby GT500 is not only the most powerful street-legal Mustang the Blue Oval has ever produced, it also boasts more power than any other Ford product — including the mighty GT supercar. Aero and cooling are both important for such a vehicle, so much of the design is functional — that includes the louvered hood as well as the integrated rear spoiler. The double front grille opening improves airflow for better cooling and contributes more downforce as well. At the heart of the new GT500 lurks a 5.2-liter supercharged V8 engine generates a massive 760 horsepower and 625 lb-ft of torque. All that power gets directed to rear wheels via a carbon fiber driveshaft. Surprisingly, Ford will not offer the GT500 with a manual gearbox; the big V8 gets teamed with a TREMEC 7-speed dual-clutch transmission that is capable of shifting gears in less than 100 milliseconds. Performance figures are as impressive as anticipated — the Shelby GT500 will sprint to 60 mph in 3.3 seconds and complete a quarter mile in 10.7 seconds. Starting price for the GT500 is a relatively reasonable $70,300.

2020 Ford Super Duty — Chicago
The all-new 2020 Ford Super Duty was on display at the 2019 Chicago Auto Show following its debut in Dearborn, Michigan, on February 5. The new Super Duty offers its highest payload and tow ratings ever for conventional, gooseneck and fifth-wheel towing. The most powerful Super Duty to date will launch with three new engines: two powerful gas-powered V8s and a 6.7-liter Power Stroke diesel V8 producing 475 horsepower and a class-leading 1050 lb-ft of torque. Trailer towing is important to Super Duty buyers, so the new F-Series Super Duty now offers Pro Trailer Backup Assist and Trailer Reverse Guidance, which is now compatible with fifth-wheel and gooseneck trailers. Pro Trailer Backup Assist helps with backing even the largest trailers into tight spaces. With hands off the steering wheel, the driver uses the Pro Trailer Backup Assist knob to steer the trailer via the reverse camera, while the Trailer Reverse Guidance system shows trailer angle and direction. Driver assistance features include a blind-spot information system with trailer coverage, and pre-collision assist with automatic emergency braking.

2020 Genesis G90 — Los Angeles
The flagship of the Genesis line, the completely updated 2020 G90 luxury sedan debuted during press days at the 2019 L.A. Auto Show. According to Genesis, every panel except the doors and the roof are new. The new look showcases the evolution of Genesis design language with extensive exterior and interior updates, new exterior colors and an expanded interior color palette. From the front, the G90 is dominated by a large signature crest grille flanked by quad headlights. Inside the new G90, the design follows what Genesis describes as “an ethos of Horizontal Architecture, dominated by a harmonious, flow of horizontal surfaces, with an emphasis on premium materials.” The 2020 G90 is the first Genesis to offer over-the-air wireless updates for maps and software; the 12.3-inch display navigation system incorporates touchscreen controls and a copper Graphic User Interface. The 2020 Genesis G90 will be offered with a choice of two engines: either a 3.3-liter V6 producing 365 horsepower and 376 lb-ft of torque, or a 5.0- liter V8 producing 420 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque. Both engines are paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission with standard rear-wheel drive or optional all-wheel drive.

Genesis Mint Concept — New York
Genesis debuted the Mint Concept in New York City — a futuristic take on a luxury city car that would be ideal for getting around The Big Apple. With a roomy interior, advanced electric powertrain and unique styling, the Mint continues the run of great concept vehicles from Genesis. The Mint Concept has a small footprint but boasts a wide stance with quad headlights that stretch around the front corners. With large wheels at the corners, precious little overhang and a windshield that flows as one element into the roofline, the Mint’s silhouette gives the impression that this little car would be sporty and fun to drive. At the rear, the charge port is located top center and Mint features two scissor-style side openings to access the rear cargo area. Driver information gets displayed on six small screens that surround the oblong steering wheel. Mint draws power from an electric motor with a high-density battery pack that provides an estimated range of 200 miles and fast 350 kW recharging.

2020 Honda CR-V Hybrid — Los Angeles
Honda has refreshed its best-selling model — the CR-V — and in addition to updated styling, the 2020 CR-V will also be available as a fuel-efficient hybrid. Making its debut at the 2019 L.A. Auto Show, the CR-V Hybrid is the first electrified SUV from the Japanese car company. Honda’s goal of having two-thirds of its global sales made up of electrified vehicles by 2030 will certainly get a boost from a CR-V Hybrid. Similar to the Honda Accord Hybrid, the CR-V Hybrid uses a 2-motor hybrid powertrain that teams two electric motors with a 2.0-liter Atkinson-cycle engine for a combined output of 212 horsepower, making it the most powerful model in the CR-V lineup. The 2020 CR-V Hybrid is also the first application of this innovative hybrid powertrain in an all-wheel-drive vehicle. Fuel economy numbers are expected to be greatly improved over the non-hybrid versions; Honda expects to release those numbers closer to the on-sale time early next year. The CR-V Hybrid will be built alongside the Insight hybrid at Honda’s assembly plant in Greensburg, Indiana.

Honda e Prototype — Geneva
The Honda e Prototype debuted in Switzerland, previewing the production version that has evolved from the 2017 Urban EV Concept. Clearly in the running for the cutest car at the 2019 Geneva show, the Honda e Prototype stays true to the look of the Urban EV Concept with a clean exterior design, long wheelbase with short overhangs, minimalist interior and advanced technology. The concave black panels front and rear are key design elements, along with flush door handles, compact cameras replacing the rearview mirrors, and charging port located in the center of the hood, with LED lights to inform the driver about charging status. An all-electric vehicle, the Honda e Prototype offers a wide stance and delivers power to the rear wheels for sporty performance. Range on a full charge is rated at 124 miles with fast charge capability to 80 percent in 30 minutes. Inside, the e Prototype offers a contemporary, minimalist feel with fabric and materials often found in homes. Honda introduced the production version at the 2019 Tokyo Motor Show, but plans to bring it to America have not been announced.

Hyundai 45 EV Concept — Frankfurt
Hyundai has already embraced the idea of electrification with two pure EVs in its roster, as well as hybrids and even a fuel-cell vehicle. At the 2019 Frankfurt Motor Show, the Korean company provided a glimpse into its future plans for EVs with the debut of the 45 EV Concept. Named to honor the advanced Pony Coupe Concept that was shown 45 years ago, the 45 EV Concept features a similar clean and simple design like that original concept from 1974. As a fully electric concept, the 45 is able to maximize usable interior space. The batteries are stored under the floor in what Hyundai refers to a skateboard — a similar concept to the General Motors Autonomy that appeared in 2002. This setup allowed designers to create a living room-like interior with fine furniture and comfortable carpeting. For easy access, seats of the 45 swivel toward the entrance when the door opens.

2020 Hyundai IONIQ — Los Angeles
In L.A. Hyundai debuted the 2020 IONIQ family of cars with new styling, upgraded interiors and more electric range. The IONIQ comes in three versions: Hybrid, Plug-In Hybrid and Electric. All three tout an exterior design refresh as well as added infotainment technology and Hyundai SmartSense active safety features and driving assistance systems. Exterior design highlights include LED headlights and taillights as well as a new mesh grille for the Hybrid and Plug-In Hybrid, with a new pattern on the closed grille of the Electric. Interior updates include a new available 10.25-inch widescreen navigation system, a new center LCD information screen and a new instrument panel. The 2020 IONIQ Electric receives a battery upgrade from 28 kWh to 38.3 kWh for an additional 36 percent of energy storage capacity, and the estimated range increases to 170 miles.

2020 Hyundai Sonata — New York
At the 2019 New York Auto Show, the 2020 Sonata made its North American debut — the newest version of Hyundai’s most successful model. Built on a new platform that delivers both increased strength and reduced weight, the Sonata design is an evolution of new Hyundai design language that the Korean automaker calls Sensuous Sportiness. Unique lighting elements for the daytime running lights are underneath chrome strips that trace the inner edge of the headlight, shining through tiny perforations in the chrome when lit, yet hidden by the chrome when turned off. Hyundai describes the interior theme as “Beautifully Smart,” with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10.25-inch HD touchscreen for infotainment functions with a split-screen option. Two powertrain options are offered: a normally-aspirated 2.5-liter engine that produces 191 horsepower, and a turbocharged 1.6-liter that produces 180 horsepower and is expected to achieve 31 mpg combined. Both engines are teamed with an 8-speed automatic transmission.

2020 Hyundai Venue — New York
The SUV lineup at Hyundai continues to grow. After revealing the Palisade as its flagship SUV, Hyundai introduced its smallest utility vehicle in New York: the brand-new Venue. The Venue joins a growing number of front-wheel-drive-only small crossovers on the U.S. market, and while it will be Hyundai’s entry-level SUV, the Venue brings a unique style as well as a healthy list of standard features that includes popular items such as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The small crossover is powered by a 121-horsepower 1.6-liter 4-cylinder engine that can be teamed with either a 6-speed manual or a continuously-variable transmission, the latter of which is rated at 32 mpg combined. The new Venue will be available with the latest safety tech, including automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, rear cross-traffic alert and blind-spot collision warning.

Hyundai Vision T Concept — Los Angeles
The Korean car company provided a peek at possible future product directions for the brand with the introduction of the Vision T Concept at the 2019 L.A. Auto Show. The Vision T is the seventh in a series of concepts that have come from the Hyundai Design Center, created to show the brand’s “Sensuous Sportiness global design language.” About the size of a Hyundai Santa Fe in length, the Vision T Concept is much wider, which gives this futuristic SUV a more aggressive stance. The Vision T features what Hyundai calls a Parametric Air Shutter Grille Design, which is closed when the vehicle is stationary; however, once moving each individual cell will open in a prescribed order, giving the vehicle the impression of something alive while at the same time controlling airflow for improved cooling and aerodynamics. This concept is clearly not going into production as-is; however, Hyundai often carries technology and design cues from concepts to production vehicles, so there may be some aspects of the Vision T that will eventually make it to future models.

Infiniti QX Inspiration — Detroit
Infiniti debuted the QX Inspiration concept in Detroit as a prelude to an all-electric, all-wheel-drive SUV from Nissan’s luxury brand. A midsize SUV concept, the QX Inspiration introduces a new direction for Infiniti electric vehicles, with design flexibility provided by a new dedicated electric vehicle architecture. Infiniti plans to launch a range of high-performance electrified vehicles that will include fully electric, e-Power and performance hybrid models. The electrified powertrains will be built with dedicated vehicle platforms to deliver high performance, range confidence and low emissions. Early Infiniti SUVs such as the 2003 FX were characterized by a long hood and cabin-rearward silhouette, but with the new electric vehicle platform — which positions the drivetrain low and between the axles — the greenhouse can be pushed forward to create more interior room. The cabin of the QX Inspiration takes advantage of the additional space offered by the electric platform, with seating and configuration that feels similar to a lounge.

2020 Jaguar XE — New York
Jaguar updated its entry-level XE sedan with new front and rear bumpers containing larger openings, a redesigned grille and slim full-LED headlights giving the vehicle a sharper, more aggressive appearance. Interior updates feature more premium materials. The new XE also has the latest advanced technologies including the available Jaguar InControl Touch Pro Duo infotainment system and a high definition 12.3-inch interactive driver display. The new optional ClearSight rearview mirror transforms into an HD video screen at the flip of a switch to give drivers a wider, unobstructed rear view. Other technologies include available Wireless device charging, a full-color head-up display and standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Jaguar XE is offered in three trim level: S, S AWD and R-Dynamic S AWD, the latter powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter engine that produces 296 horsepower. The updated Jaguar XE receives a new SportShift gear selector replacing the rotary controller.

Imagine by Kia Concept — Geneva
Kia introduced an all-electric concept car — dubbed Image by Kia —at the 2019 Geneva show in Switzerland, describing it as the company’s first look at a 4-passenger car designed from inception to be electric. While the Kia eNiro electric crossover is based on an existing architecture adapted to electric, the Imagine by Kia features a low-mounted, induction-charged battery pack and a compact electric drivetrain. “Automotive design is about capturing the heart and making it beat that bit faster for that bit longer. We believe that there’s absolutely no reason why that should change simply because the car is electric,” said Gregory Guillaume, vice president of design for Kia Motors Europe. Image by Kia features a new interpretation of Kia’s tiger nose grille with an illuminated tiger mask that surrounds the LED headlight units and includes a floating horizontal element. The front turn signals high on the edge of the hood feature glowing elements that float in clear acrylic, and the windshield and roof are created from a single piece of glass.

2020 Kia Seltos — Los Angeles
With sport-utility vehicles continuing to play so prominently in America, Kia is adding a new SUV to its lineup. The all-new Seltos will be positioned between the Soul and Sportage, with modern styling and the classic SUV shape. The cabin is quite spacious with a rear seat that offers impressive leg- and headroom. Up front there’s a decent amount of storage space as well as an available 10.25-inch touchscreen display in the center. Two powerplants will be available for Seltos, including a 1.6-liter turbocharged engine producing 175 horsepower and 195 lb-ft of torque, teamed with a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox which should offer plenty of performance for a vehicle this size. With 7.2-inches of ground clearance and available all-wheel drive with torque vectoring, the Seltos should be quite capable on or off pavement. Seltos will be available in five trim levels with prices starting below $22,000 for the LX AWD. Look for Seltos to start arriving in showrooms in the first quarter of 2020.

2020 Kia Sportage — Chicago
At the 2019 Chicago Auto Show, Kia debuted the 2020 Sportage with updated exterior styling, a sporty S trim level and updated available driver-assistance features. The more aggressive exterior design includes new headlights, redesigned projector-beam fog lights, available LED headlights, as well as a new grille, front bumper and wheel designs. At the rear, the 2020 Sportage receives new taillight trim, rear bumper and exhaust tip designs. The 2020 Sportage is available in LX, EX and SX levels. Two engine choices are offered: a 2.4-liter that produces 181 horsepower or a 2.0-liter turbo GDI that produces 240 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. Available driver-assistance features include driver attention warning, lane-keeping assist, smart cruise control with stop & go, forward collision assist with pedestrian detection and high-beam assist.

2019 Kia Stinger GTS — New York
Kia debuted the limited-edition Stinger GTS at the 2019 New York Auto Show, finished in Bright Orange paint with carbon fiber trim, so enthusiasts won’t miss the Stinger GTS out on the street. Limited to 800 copies, this special variant is available in all- or rear-wheel drive. The new D-AWD system adds a mechanical limited-slip rear differential and more of a rear torque bias to close the gap between AWD and RWD performance. The Drive Mode Select allows the driver to select Drift, which sends 100 percent of the power to the rear wheels. Stinger GTS is powered by a 3.3-liter twin-turbo V6 engine that produces 365 horsepower and 376 lb-ft of torque, mated with an 8-speed automatic transmission. Painted exclusively in Federation Orange, the Stinger GTS receives carbon fiber trim around the grille, carbon fiber mirror caps and carbon fiber side vents. Inside, the GTS sports an Alcantara-covered steering wheel, Alcantara console trim and a headliner in suede-like Chamude. Standard equipment includes a sunroof, a 720-watt Harmon/Kardon premium audio system and wireless charging.

2020 Kia Telluride — Detroit
After showing it in concept form years earlier, the all-new Kia Telluride debuted at the Detroit Auto Show in 2019. The largest SUV ever offered by Kia — with seating for up to eight occupants — the Telluride was created specifically for the U.S. market, penned at the Kia Design Center in Irvine, California. The Telluride’s intent is to be big, bold and boxy to convey power and capability — which it does in spades. The SUV features a long hood, wide grille, stacked headlights, L-shaped taillights and long Telluride nameplates across the front edges of the hood and tailgate. Telluride is powered by a 3.8-liter V6 engine producing 291 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque, paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission and an available active on-demand all-wheel-drive system. Self-leveling rear suspension is optional. Inside, Telluride offers a leather-wrapped steering wheel; optional heated and ventilated seats for the first and second rows; available double-stitched, quilted leather-trim seats; simulated brushed metal and matte finish wood; and reclining third-row seats. Telluride is produced at Kia’s manufacturing facility in West Point, Georgia.

Koenigsegg Jesko — Geneva
At the 2019 Geneva Motor Show, Koenigsegg CEO and founder Christian von Koenigsegg surprised his father by naming the brand’s newest offering after him. The all-new Jesko will take the place of the Agera RS as a car suited for both street and track. The Jesko’s carbon fiber monocoque chassis is slightly longer and taller than the Agera, which provides a roomier cabin. At high speed the Jesko generates more than 2,200 pounds of downforce for excellent grip and handling. Powering the Jesko is a redesigned 5.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine that generates as much as 1600 horsepower. All that power gets directed through an all-new 9-speed “Light Speed Transmission” that was designed in-house and allows for practically instantaneous gear changes from any gear to any gear. Koenigsegg also announced that there will be a sibling to the Jesko — the Jesko 300. With less downforce and more streamlined aerodynamics, the Jesko 300 is named for the goal of breaking the elusive 300-mph mark. Only 125 Jeskos will be sold, and at the time of the reveal more than 80 had been spoken for.

Lamborghini Aventador SVJ Roadster — Geneva
Last year the Lamborghini Aventador SVJ coupe completed a lap of the famed Nürburgring-Nordschleife in 6:44.97, setting the record for a street-legal production car. Now it’s possible to have that same level of performance in an open-top car: the Aventador SVJ Roadster. Like the coupe, the SVJ Roadster is powered by a normally-aspirated 6.5-liter V12 engine that produces 770 horsepower and 531 lb-ft of torque. With power delivered to all four wheels via a 7-speed automatic gearbox, the SVJ Roadster can reach 62 mph in 2.9 seconds and 124 mph in 8.8 seconds. Top speed exceeds 217 mph — certain to be an unforgettable experience with the top down. The roof is composed of carbon fiber and can be removed via quick-release levers for stowage under the front hood. Only 800 Aventador SVJ Roadsters will be sold with a retail price in the U.S. of $573,966.

Lamborghini Huracan EVO Spyder — Geneva
The Lamborghini Huracan is already an outstanding performance car, but at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show the Italian automaker debuted an even hotter version: the Huracan EVO Spyder. Following the coupe that was introduced earlier this year, the Spyder carries over the advanced aerodynamics and next-generation vehicle dynamics control that were introduced on the hardtop version, adding the luxury of open-top high-speed motoring. The Spyder features an electrohydraulic, lightweight soft-top that opens with the push of a button and fully retracts in 17 seconds. Power comes from a naturally-aspirated 5.2-liter V10 engine that produces a plentiful 640 horsepower and 442 lb-ft of torque. This results in thrilling speed specs: 62 mph comes up in 3.1 seconds, 124 mph in 9.3 seconds and top speed is rated at a bit over 200 mph. To make proper use of all that power, the Huracan EVO features the latest version of Lamborghini Dinamica Veicolo Integrata to control and enhance the overall driving dynamics. The LDVI can affect the rear-wheel steering, 4-wheel torque-vectoring system and enhanced all-wheel-drive system to predict the best driving setup for the current situation.

Lamborghini Sian — Frankfurt
At this year’s Frankfurt Motor Show, Lamborghini took the wraps off its fastest sports car ever: the new Sian. This new model represents the Italian automaker’s first foray into electrification, so the car gets aptly named — Sian means flash or lightning in Bolognese dialect. Lamborghinis are always designed to look fast — even when stationary — but the Sian goes even further with sharp angles, rear fins and unique headlights up front. At the heart of the Sian lurks a 6.5-liter V12 engine, upgraded with titanium intake valves, that produces 785 horses — the most power ever derived from a Lamborghini engine. The V12 gets supplemented with a 34-horsepower electric motor for a total output of 819 horses. With all this power available, the Sian will blast to 62 mph (100 km/h) in less than 2.8 seconds, making it the quickest Lambo ever. Top speed is expected to be in excess of 217 mph. Extreme stats, even for a Lamborghini.

2020 Land Rover Defender — Frankfurt
One of the toughest and most capable vehicles in Land Rover history, the Defender returns for the 2020 model year, built on the automaker’s new all-aluminum D7x platform. The new Defender retains its familiar silhouette incorporating short front and rear overhangs for a look easily recognized as a Land Rover Defender. The overall design has a tough appearance, and the high sills, short overhangs and rear-mounted spare tire facilitate the expected off-road capability. Inside, the new Defender offers a highly functional layout with exposed structural elements and rubberized floor coverings. Defender will be offered with two powertrain options designated Defender P300, with a 296-horsepower 2.0-liter engine; and Defender P400, which gets a mild-hybrid powertrain with an inline 6-cylinder engine that has both a turbocharger and a 48-volt electric supercharger for a combined output of 395 horsepower and 406 lb-ft of torque. The 2020 Land Rover Defender 110 will be available in the U.S. in spring 2020 at a starting MSRP of $49,900, ranging up to $80,900 for the Defender X P400. The Defender 90 will join the lineup later in 2020.

Lexus LC Convertible Concept — Detroit
Three years ago Lexus brought the dramatically powerful design of the Lexus LF-LC concept to life with the Motown debut of the Lexus LC coupe, and now Toyota’s luxury brand expands that design to include the LC Convertible Concept. An evolution of the LC coupe design, the LC Convertible Concept offers a look at the future direction for the Lexus LC flagship. The LC Convertible Concept may make an impression as more elegant and refined than the coupe, but it retains athletic, performance-oriented proportions with a long and low hood, a wide stance and short overhangs. The sleek look gets further enhanced by 22-inch wheels that have a split-spoke design with alternating polished and dark elements. Inside, the LC Convertible Concept is finely tailored with quality materials and contrasting colors. The perforated seats and door inserts are finished in white leather, while the dashboard, center console and upper door panels are dark with yellow accent stitching. Lexus has a history of bringing the design of the LF-LC to production as the Lexus LC. Will the LC Convertible Concept be the next concept to go into production? 2021 Lexus LC 500 Convertible — Los Angeles
Lexus revealed the 2021 LC 500 Convertible at the 2019 Los Angeles Auto Show, less than a year after the showing of the LC Convertible Concept. From the front, the 2021 Lexus LC 500 Convertible looks identical to the coupe, but the roofline and rear decklid design are unique to the open-top version. The 4-layer soft-top has been designed so the supporting frame is not visible through the fabric material, yet it keeps tension, minimizes wrinkling and improves sound insulation. The LC 500 Convertible is powered by the same 5.0-liter V8 engine as the coupe, producing 471 horsepower at 7100 rpm and 398 lb-ft of torque at 4800 rpm. Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a Direct-Shift 10-speed automatic transmission with manual shift mode. To ensure LC 500 Convertible occupants remain comfortable — whatever the weather conditions — Lexus adds Climate Concierge with Upper Body Heating, which automatically manages the air conditioning, heated seats, neck heaters and heated steering wheel. The cabin is designed to reduce wind noise and a transparent polycarbonate wind deflector helps prevent excessive, unwanted air from blowing in. The 2021 Lexus LC 500 Convertible is scheduled to go on sale in summer 2020.

Lexus LF-30 Concept — Tokyo
Following a theme of electrification that seems to be prevalent at every auto show, Lexus introduced its vision for the future — 2030 to be more precise — in the shape of this bold concept vehicle. The LF-30 advances the iconic spindle grille and takes the most modern form possible with this concept’s electric powertrain. The futuristic styling is accompanied by an advanced powertrain that features four in-wheel motors and steering-by-wire, which would provide not only outstanding handling and performance, but allow a more spacious interior design. The advanced cockpit of the LF-30 is designed for manual or autonomous driving, with steering-wheel-controlled switches and a head-up display. The LF-30 features next-generation interfaces that use gesture control while presenting information with augmented reality displays. Access to the interior is via very large gull-wing style doors.

2020 Lincoln Corsair — New York
Lincoln has been introducing new sport-utility vehicles at a frenzied pace, and apparently the company isn’t finished. Joining the new Navigator, Nautilus and Aviator is an all-new luxury 2-row crossover, the Corsair. The new Corsair will be easily recognizable as a Lincoln thanks to styling cues borrowed from the larger Nautilus and Aviator models — specifically a very similar grille and headlight treatment. Upscale materials create a premium feeling within the cabin, and a dual-wall dashboard with composite sound insulation provides a quiet interior. Corsair also features Active Noise Control, and sounds that occupants do hear are chimes recorded by the Detroit Symphony Orchestra. Two engine options are available for the Corsair — and both are turbocharged. The standard powerplant is a 2.0-liter turbo that will deliver an estimated 250 horsepower, while customers looking for a bit more oomph can opt for a 2.3-liter turbo that produces 295 horsepower with 310 lb-ft of torque. The Corsair is built at Ford’s Louisville Assembly Plant in Louisville, Kentucky.

2021 Lincoln Corsair Grand Touring — Los Angeles
After introducing the Corsair earlier this year, Lincoln is adding a Grand Touring trim to this premium 5-passenger crossover, which for Lincoln means electrification. The Corsair Grand Touring will join the Aviator Grand Touring as the second plug-in hybrid model in the SUV lineup. The new Corsair Grand Touring will feature a 2.5-liter Atkinson-cycle 4-cylinder engine teamed with two electric motors to deliver an expected 266 combined horsepower. This system provides an electric all-wheel-drive system and should deliver up to 25 miles of electric-only driving on a full charge. Lincoln has put considerable effort into making the Corsair a quiet, comfortable ride, which includes using additional sound damping materials between the engine and the cabin as well as Active Noise Control. Corsair also gets equipped with the latest advance safety features. The 2021 Lincoln Corsair Grand Touring is expected to go on sale in summer 2020.

Lotus Evija — Pebble Beach
Lotus Cars established its retail reputation building lightweight, high-performance sports cars equally at home on both track and street. In that vein, Lotus has taken the wraps off its all-new flagship sports car — the Evija, pronounced ih-VIE-uh. Not only is Evija the first hypercar from Lotus, it’s also the brand’s first fully-electric vehicle. The first Lotus built on a full carbon fiber chassis, the Evija sits low and wide with a sleek silhouette that introduces a new design language for the marque. Aside from the standout styling, the Evija sets itself apart from other hypercars with a fully-electric powertrain. An electric motor is mounted at each wheel, each with a power target of around 500 horses each — giving the Evija an estimated 2000 horsepower and 1254 lb-ft of torque. With each motor able to be operated independently, the Evija has full-time all-wheel drive as well as torque vectoring, which should provide exceptional handling and agility as well as outrageous acceleration. Lotus plans to create a mere 130 copies of the Evija, and production is expected to begin in 2020 at a price of £1.7 million (approx. US$2 million) each.

2020 Mazda CX-30 — Geneva
Mazda adds another crossover to its lineup with the CX-30 that debuted in Geneva — an all-new crossover that fits between the existing CX-3 and CX-5 models. Following Mazda’s KODO design language, the front end of the CX-30 looks very similar to CX-3 and CX-5 with flowing lines from the grille toward the rear wheel arches. The shoulder line in the rear fenders is lower than CX-3 for a more open feeling, and the both the roof and the fenders taper in at the rear for an elegant finish. The CX-30 is designed to be right-sized for many buyers, featuring comfortable seating for four adults and offering Mazda’s signature driving dynamics in a fun-to-drive package. Inside, the CX-30 focuses on creating a premium vibe with a cockpit feel for the driver and an open area for the front passenger. Available with front- or all-wheel drive, the CX-30 is powered by a 2.5-liter SKYACTIV-G engine producing 186 horsepower, teamed with a 6-speed automatic transmission. The CX-30 will be sold globally with prices starting in the U.S. at $21,900.

Mazda MX-30 — Tokyo
Since nearly every car company seems to be getting on the electrification bandwagon, Mazda has thrown its hat into the ring with the introduction of the all-new fully-electric MX-30. Styling fits nicely with the rest of the Mazda SUV lineup, but the MX-30 stands out with a unique design element. The rear doors are rear-hinged — similar to the Mazda RX-8 sports car. With no center pillar, this provides easy access to the interior; however, it appears that the rear doors cannot be opened without first opening the front doors. Powering the MX-30 is Mazda’s new electric propulsion system called e-SKYACTIV. Details of the new powertrain were somewhat scarce in Tokyo; however, some reports say the electric motor output is around 140 horsepower with a range of about 130 miles. The MX-30 features a stylish cabin with a clean dashboard design. Several of the surfaces in front are also covered in cork, paying homage to the company’s founding in 1920 as Toyo Cork Kogyo Co., Ltd. While the MX-30 is slated to go on sale in Japan next year, there has been no official word about plans to bring this new EV to America.

McLaren 720S Spider — Geneva
Two years ago at the Geneva Motor Show, McLaren introduced the all-new 720S. This year McLaren premieres the 720S Spider, combining ultimate performance with open-air motoring. The retractable carbon fiber roof raises or lowers in 11 seconds. The entire top mechanism only adds 108 pounds, conforming to McLaren’s dedication to lightweight performance vehicles. The 720S Spider’s 4.0-liter turbocharged V8 engine produces 710 horsepower and 568 lb-ft of torque. Performance figures are on a par with the coupe — the sprint to 60 mph takes 2.8 seconds and 124 mph comes up in a hair under 8 seconds. Top speed is 212 mph; however, with the top open the driver would have to settle for a mere 202 mph. With the same handling and performance as the coupe as well as the all-weather durability of the retractable hardtop, the spider will likely become more favorable than the coupe. The new 720S Spider is on sale now at a retail price in the U.S. of $315,000.

McLaren Speedtail — Geneva
Many would argue that the McLaren F1 is one of the most significant sports cars ever built, breaking a 10-year-old record in 1998 to become the world’s fastest production car by clocking a maximum speed of 240.14 mph. The British carmaker subsequently created some thrilling sports cars, but nothing could really be considered a proper successor to that iconic F1 until now: enter the McLaren Speedtail. Referred to as a “Hyper-GT,” the Speedtail will be the fastest production McLaren ever, with an expected top speed of 250 mph. Full details of the Speedtail’s powertrain have not been released, although we do know it will be a gas-electric hybrid system that will generate at least 1036 horsepower. Only 106 F1s were built, so McLaren will be limiting the production of the Speedtail to the same 106 copies — all of which have been spoken for. When it debuted, the F1 was pioneering in many ways, but it stood out for having the driver sitting in the center of the cockpit, flanked by two passenger seats set farther back. This same seat configuration has been carried over to the new Speedtail.

Mercedes-Benz Vision EQS — Frankfurt
Mercedes-Benz debuted the Vision EQS at the 2019 Frankfurt Motor Show — a look to the future with a fully-electric luxury vehicle possessing a spacious interior and a futuristic design. Mercedes-Benz describes the Vision EQS as a milestone on the way to the future of Mercedes-Benz with a focus on sustainability, high-quality vehicles and self-determined driving. In creating the Vision EQS, Mercedes incorporates supreme craftsmanship, emotive design, luxury materials and individual driving experience. The flowing exterior design combines luxury and aerodynamics, and the prominent “lightbelt” separates the silver lower body from the upper black panel and glass. As a vision for the future of electric luxury vehicles, Vision EQS is motivated by powerful electric motors; the front and rear axles produce a combined output of approximately 469 horsepower and 560 lb-ft of torque. The electric all-wheel-drive system varies torque distribution between the front and rear axles, and Vision EQS will accelerate from zero to 60 mph in less than 4.5 seconds. Battery capacity is approximately 100 kWh and range is estimated to be 435 miles. With 350 kW charging capacity, the battery can be recharged to 80 percent in less than 20 minutes.

Mercedes-Benz Concept EQV — Geneva
In Geneva Mercedes-Benz debuted the Concept EQV, a new addition to the all-electric EQ lineup and the first battery-electric people mover in the premium segment. The design follows the EQ design theme in a traditional van format, and Concept EQV offers a broad range of configurations and potential uses, as well as seating for up to eight occupants. Concept EQV is motivated by a compact electric drivetrain powering the front wheels via an electric motor that produces 201 horsepower and a transmission with fixed gear ratios. The 100 kWh battery lithium-ion battery provides a range of 249 miles; EQV will achieve a top speed of 99 mph.

2020 Mercedes-Benz GLC — Geneva
Mercedes-Benz hosted the world premiere of the redesigned 2020 GLC compact premium SUV at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show. The new look for GLC is sportier overall with a much more detailed grille that includes two horizontal elements and diamond lattice. The standard LED headlights are smaller and reshaped with torch-shaped daytime running lights. At the rear, the GLC receives a new bumper, exhaust tips and a chrome skidplate. Redesigned LED taillights have the Mercedes-Benz signature with backlit edge lights. The 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLC is equipped with a new 2.0-liter engine producing 255 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque. The latest generation MBUX infotainment system offers standard touchscreen multimedia display, standard intelligent voice control and optional augmented video for navigation. Driver assistance systems include active distance assist DISTRONIC and active steering assist.

2020 Mercedes-Benz GLS — New York
SUVs were big news for Mercedes-Benz in New York, but the all-new GLS created the biggest splash. The front-end design of the 2020 GLS is an evolution of the previous model, now falling in line as a larger version of the current design of the midsize GLE. The flat front end has an upright octagonal grille with standard MULTIBEAM LED headlights featuring 112 LEDs per headlight. Inside, the new GLS features a dual widescreen display with 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.3-inch touchscreen multimedia display. GLS is equipped with the Mercedes-Benz User Experience — known as MBUX — to manage the infotainment system and other vehicle controls. The new Mercedes-Benz GLS will initially be offered in two version for the U.S. market: GLS 450 4MATIC and GLS 580 4MATIC, both powered by new engines with EQ Boost and 48-volt electrical systems. This is a world debut for the new engine powering the GLS 580 4MATIC — a 4.0-liter V8 biturbo that produces 483 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque with an Integrated starter generator. The new GLS is available now with a starting price of $75,200.

2020 Mercedes-AMG GLS 63 — Los Angeles
Following the GLS debut in New York, this flagship SUV is getting the AMG treatment, which means more aggressive styling and — of course — more power. The familiar AMG grille with vertical slats in high-gloss chrome, dynamic headlights, flared wheel arches and sculpted hood help differentiate the GLS 63 from a “typical” GLS. The GLS 63 comes standard with 21-inch wheels, but for ultimate standout styling 23-inch variants are available. Inside, high-quality materials and amenities abound, including Nappa leather seats as well as the AMG instrument cluster. At the heart of every AMG model is a powerful hand-built motor and the GLS 63 is no exception. Under the very large hood lurks a 4.0-liter Biturbo V8 engine that produces 603 horsepower and 627 lb-ft of torque. For the first time, the AMG V8 gets supplemented by an EQ boost starter / alternator that can briefly add 21 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque when needed for a sprint from a stoplight or passing a slower vehicle. With this much power on tap, the very large GLS 63 can reach 60 mph in 4.1 seconds and — with enough road or track — 174 mph.

2020 MINI John Cooper Works GP — Los Angeles
The 2019 Los Angeles Auto Show hosted the world premiere of the high-performance MINI John Cooper Works GP — the fastest MINI ever produced for the street. Making it the fastest is a 2.0-liter MINI TwinPower Turbo engine producing 301 horsepower and 332 lb-ft of torque — 75 horsepower more than the MINI John Cooper Works. The engine gets paired with an 8-speed Steptronic sports transmission with an integrated mechanical differential lock for the front wheels. The John Cooper Works GP will accelerate from zero to 62 mph in 5.2 seconds; it has a top track speed of 165 mph.
Finished exclusively in Racing Grey metallic with unique front and rear fascias, the MINI John Cooper Works GP gets a double-wing rear spoiler, while the roof and mirror caps have a contrasting Melting Silver metallic finish. Lightweight 18-inch forged wheels feature GP logo center caps and are fitted with 225/35R18 high-performance tires. Inside the John Cooper Works GP only offers two seats; noise insulation is removed for weight reduction. A limited edition of 3,000 units will be produced.

2020 MINI Cooper SE — Frankfurt
MINI went electric with the introduction of the Cooper SE at the 2019 Frankfurt Motor Show. Based on the MINI 2-door hardtop, the Cooper SE is powered by an electric motor producing 135 kW (181 horsepower) and 199 lb-ft of torque, and will accelerate from zero to 62 mph in 7.3 seconds. The new MINI Cooper SE will charge on a 12-volt socket or a wall-mounted home charger, but with a DC fast charger of 50 kW the SE will charge up to 80 percent in 35 minutes. The high-voltage 32.6 kWh lithium-ion battery pack is positioned in the floor so the Cooper SE retains the same cargo capacity as the standard MINI 2-door hardtop. Range is expected to be 145–167 miles. The MINI Cooper SE is distinguished from other MINI models by a closed grille with yellow accent, yellow mirrors, a unique rear apron and 16-inch MINI Electric Revolite Spoke alloy wheels.

Mitsubishi Mi-TECH Concept — Tokyo
Over the years Mitsubishi has shown some rather outlandish concept vehicles, and while the MI-TECH Concept that debuted at the 2019 Tokyo Motor Show would fall into that category, it is one of our favorites. Up front sits a prominent grille that features copper highlights designed to communicate the fact that this is an electric vehicle. Large wheels with big fender flares give the MI-TECH a look of being able to conquer any terrain, while the open-air cockpit indicates that occupants will have a blast doing the conquering. The MI-TECH Concept employs a lightweight plug-in hybrid system that uses a small gas turbine engine to operate as a generator, showcasing how a system like this can fit into a small SUV. Fitted with a Quad Motor 4WD System, the MI-TECH would have excellent off-road control with front and rear Dual-Motor Active Yaw Control — if two wheels are off the ground, power can easily be directed to the wheels that still have traction.

Mullen Qiantu K50 — New York
The 2019 New York Auto Show marked the North American debut of the Mullen Qiantu K50, a two-seat pure electric high-performance sports car. Mullen Technologies entered into a cooperation agreement with Chinese car company Qiantu for Mullen to homologate, assemble and sell the Qiantu K50 in North America. The sculpted Qiantu K50 body panels are carbon fiber over an all-aluminum frame with double wishbone suspension front and rear. The K50 is powered by two electric motors; one driving each axle for dual-motor all-wheel drive. The electric motors produce a combined total of 430 horsepower and 428 lb-ft of torque. The Qiantu K50 will accelerate from zero to 60 mph in 4.2 seconds, with an electronically-limited top speed of 125 mph. The K50’s 78 kWh battery pack provides an estimated range or 250 miles with higher range possible at a steady speed.

Nissan Ariya Concept — Tokyo
Making its world debut at the 2019 Tokyo Motor Show, the Ariya Concept is a small all-electric crossover that introduces an all-new look for Nissan. Although earlier concept vehicles have provided hints about future design, the Ariya Concept is the closest to a production model thus far. The signature V-Motion grille is still at the front; however, with the Ariya the overall size is broader, incorporating thin LED headlights and what Nissan calls the “shield,” emblazoned with an illuminated Nissan logo. The Ariya Concept is built with an all-new vehicle architecture likely to be the basis for all future Nissan EV models. With a twin-electric motor powertrain — one in front, one at the rear — the system should provide instant acceleration as well as the grip and handling of all-wheel drive. This electric all-wheel-drive system is designed to manage power delivery to the road for better cornering and handling on dry pavement, or when surfaces offer less grip. Although there has been no official word on plans for this new EV, it could certainly be the basis of a new vehicle in Nissan’s near future.

2020 Nissan 370Z 50th Anniversary Edition — New York
Nissan debuted the 2020 Nissan 370Z 50th Anniversary Edition in New York — a special edition to commemorates the 50th anniversary of the original 1970 Datsun 240Z, with exterior and interior details that recognize the legacy of that historic sports car. The two-tone exterior design is inspired by the #46 BRE Datsun 240Z of Brock Racing Enterprises that won multiple SCCA National Championships, driven by John Morton. Two color combinations are offered: white with red accents and silver with black accents. Inside, the 370Z 50th Anniversary Edition adds a 50th Anniversary Alcantara steering wheel with center stripe and heated 4-way power seats trimmed in leather and suede. The 370Z 50th Anniversary is powered by a 3.7-liter V6 engine producing 332 horsepower and 270 lb-ft of torque, combined with a close-ratio 6-speed manual gearbox or a 7-speed automatic transmission. Performance equipment includes large brakes with 4-piston front calipers, a viscous limited-slip differential, high-grip Bridgestone Potenza S007 tires and 19-inch RAYS lightweight forged aluminum-alloy wheels.

2020 Nissan GT-R NISMO — New York
At the 2019 New York Auto Show, Nissan introduced the most powerful production GT-R to date — the 2020 Nissan GT-R NISMO. With a new turbocharger design that comes directly from the GT-R GT3 race car, the 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged V6 produces 600 horsepower and 481 lb-ft of torque. The revised 6-speed dual-clutch transmission shifts faster and optimizes gear selection coming out of corners. Carbon fiber components are used throughout the car for considerable weight savings. The front fenders now resemble the GT-R GT3 race car and the scalloped vents help extract hot air from the engine bay. A new compression process gives the carbon fiber roof a lightweight, tight weave. The revised titanium exhaust includes handcrafted burnished blue tips. Inside the cabin, exclusive GT-R NISMO front seats are designed to focus on holding the shoulder blades and lower body points, giving the driver a better sense of car and body as one.

Nissan IMQ Concept — Geneva
Nissan unveiled the IMQ concept vehicle in Geneva to showcase advanced technology and design for future crossover models. IMQ is powered by the next generation e-Power electric motor drive system that delivers a total of 355 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque through a new multimotor all-wheel-drive system. IMQ is also equipped with an advanced prototype version of the Nissan ProPILOT driver assistance system with enhanced autonomous driving capability. The IMQ concept aims to blend the exterior and interior as one, with the shape of the greenhouse designed to appear as a single continuous surface. The Nissan V-Motion grille is more subtle than current production models and blends vertically into the hood. The IMQ doors are hinged at the outer edges for a wide opening to the futuristic interior that features four seats rising from the lamella-covered floor. Nissan’s gliding wing instrument panel is completely black when powered down, and a secondary screen above the center console controls the Virtual Personal Assistant that can control vehicle functions based on driver input.

Nissan IMs Concept — Detroit
A powerful EV concept, Nissan describes the IMs as an elevated sports sedan that transforms the traditional sedan into something fresh and new. With a tall stance and a sleek roofline, the IMs offers a unique seating layout with an oversized single seat that remains when the slim outer seats of the three-position rear seat are folded. An all-wheel-drive electric vehicle, the IMs is powered by two electric motors — one driving each axle, with total power output of 483 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque. The 115kW battery pack is positioned below the passenger floor and stores enough energy for an estimated range of 380 miles. Additional features include air suspension that adapts to road conditions and driving mode; autonomous driving mode; an “Invisible-to-Visible” augmented reality display with avatar 22-inch aluminum-alloy wheels; and custom Michelin performance tires.

2020 Nissan Sentra — Los Angeles
The all-new Nissan Sentra debuted in the City of Angels with more expressive exterior styling, a new platform, a more refined interior and new connectivity technology. The new Sentra receives its own version of Nissan’s signature V-Motion grille, flanked by narrow headlights that flow back into the front fenders. The 2020 Sentra is powered by a new 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine rated at 149 horsepower and 145 lb-ft of torque — an increase of 25 horsepower and 20 lb-ft of torque over the previous generation’s 1.8-liter engine. Expected to offer improved fuel economy, the new engine is paired with the latest generation of Nissan’s Xtronic continuously-variable transmission. For 2020 the Sentra is offered in three trim levels: S, SV and SR. Sentra also receives Nissan’s NASA-inspired Zero Gravity seats first offered in the Maxima. Nissan engineers aimed to improve handling, stability and ride comfort with a new independent rear suspension combined with a McPherson strut front suspension with twin-tube shock absorbers. The 2020 Sentra is scheduled to go on sale in late January 2020.

Piech Mark Zero — Geneva
Headquartered in Zurich, Switzerland, Piech Automotive was founded three years ago to develop a new flexible vehicle architecture. The company’s first vehicle — the Mark Zero — made its worldwide debut at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show. Showcasing that this new flexible and modular vehicle platform can be used for multiple drive systems, the Mark Zero is a pure electric sports car. Rather than storing the batteries under the floor, the Mark Zero has them in the center over the rear axle for better weight distribution; this also allows the seats to be positioned lower as expected in a proper sports car. The Mark Zero is equipped with a 150 kW motor on the front axle and two additional 150 kW motors on the rear axle, which translates to around 600 horsepower. Thanks to the instant torque associated with electric motors, the Mark Zero is expected to reach 60 mph in about 3.2 seconds with a top speed of 155 mph. Piech claims that the innovative battery pack can reach 80 percent capacity in four hours and forty minutes, which would be an impressive feat.

Pininfarina Battista — Geneva
The Pininfarina name has adorned some of the most beautiful cars ever built, but rather than being the design house for another car company, this time Pininfarina is building its own car. Named for Battista ‘Pinin’ Farina, who founded the Carrozzeria Pininfarina coachbuilding company in 1930, the new Battista is an all-electric hyper GT with a stunning carbon fiber body and carbon fiber monocoque chassis. Although the design is completely Pininfarina, the fully-electric powertrain comes from Rimac. The Battista gets four electric motors — one at each wheel — for a combined output of 1900 horsepower and almost 1700 lb-ft of torque. This results in astounding acceleration — 62 mph is achieved in 1.9 seconds. With a 120 kWh lithium-ion battery pack, the Battista can travel about 280 miles on a single charge. Deliveries of the Pininfarina Battista will start in 2020 with only 150 expected to be made. When it arrives, the Pininfarina Battista will be the most powerful street-legal car ever designed and built in Italy.

2021 Polestar 2 — Geneva
After many years as Volvo’s performance arm, Polestar has become a standalone electrified performance brand with the debut of the high-performance Polestar 1 coupe last year. This year in Geneva, Polestar debuted the all-electric Polestar 2 — a volume model aimed squarely at the Tesla Model 3. Designed as a 5-door fastback, the Polestar 2 is built on Volvo’s Compact Modular Architecture platform that integrates the battery pack into the floor for improved chassis rigidity and reductions in noise, vibration and harshness. Polestar 2 will be equipped with two electric motors driving all four wheels. Total output will be a healthy 408 horsepower and 487 lb-ft of torque. Polestar expects the new model to reach 60 mph in less than 5 seconds. With a 78 kWh battery pack, the new Polestar 2 will travel up to 310 miles between charges.

2020 Porsche 911 Carrera S Cabriolet — Geneva
Once the new Porsche 911 Carrera S was introduced last fall in Los Angeles, it was only a matter of time before additional variants began arriving. At the 2019 Geneva show the next version of the 911 made its debut — the 911 Carrera S (and 4S) Cabriolet. Sporting the same updated styling as the coupe, the Cabriolet gets an automatic fabric top that features a solid glass window and an integrated magnesium support structure. The top can open or closed in 12 seconds at speeds up to 31 mph. As with the coupe, the Carrera S Cabriolet is powered by a 3.0-liter turbocharged flat-six engine producing 443 horsepower and 290 lb-ft of torque. Not only is this updated engine more powerful than the outgoing model, it produces fewer emissions while achieving better fuel economy. All 911 Carrera S and 4S variants get equipped with a new 8-speed PDK dual-clutch gearbox — a manual transmission is no longer offered. The 2020 Porsche 911 Cabriolet has a starting price of $126,100 for the Carrera S, while the Carrera 4S will be priced at $133,400.

2020 Porsche Taycan — Frankfurt
Four years ago Porsche introduced the Mission E concept, providing a glimpse into the sports car company’s plans to build a fully electric vehicle. That fully electric vehicle has now arrived. The all-new Taycan premieres as a 4-door sports car that offers all the performance expected of a Porsche — with a fully-electric powertrain. Two versions will be offered at launch: the Taycan Turbo and the Taycan Turbo S. Taycan’s design team made sure the new model is easily recognizable as a Porsche, with its sleek body and roofline that slopes toward the rear in its signature Teutonic taper. Power for Taycan comes from two electric motors — one at each axle — which also creates an advanced 4-wheel drive system. The Taycan Turbo produces up to 670 horsepower and 626 lb-ft of torque, while the top-level Taycan Turbo S generates a staggering 750 horsepower and 774 lb-ft of torque, making it the most potent vehicle in the Porsche lineup. With maximum torque available almost immediately, acceleration will be eye-watering — the Taycan Turbo will sprint to 60 mph in 3.0 seconds, while the more powerful Turbo S will complete the same task in a mere 2.6 seconds. Porsche limits top speed for both versions to 161 mph.

2019 Ram Heavy Duty — Detroit
The heavy-duty truck segment is an extremely competitive one — since there are only four major players — but the new Ram Heavy Duty is out of the gate with some pretty big numbers. Most impressive is 1000 lb-ft of torque produced by a new 6.7-liter Cummins turbodiesel engine, which translates into a maximum tow rating of more than 35,000 pounds. This big truck is built on an all-new frame that is 70 percent high-strength steel with six separate crossmembers. While this makes the new Ram stronger, use of lightweight materials in the frame, powertrain and hood (which is aluminum) reduce overall weight by as much as 143 pounds. The standard engine for the new Ram Heavy Duty is a 6.4-liter HEMI V8 producing 410 horsepower and 429 lb-ft of torque. Towing capacity varies based on bodystyle, powertrain and other criteria, but a Ram 3500 2WD Regular Cab equipped with the Cummins diesel can tow up to 35,100 pounds or carry 7,680 pounds of cargo.

Rimac C Two — Geneva
One of the most extreme cars of the Geneva Motor Show — which is a high rung to reach — is the Rimac C Two. The second model from Croatia-based Rimac, the C Two is billed as the most powerful electric hypercar in the world. The C Two gets motivation from four electric motors — one at each wheel — for a combined output of 1914 horsepower. Almost 1700 lb-ft of torque is generated instantly for acceleration that would leave any other car in its dust. The sprint to 60 mph takes 1.85 seconds and it passes 186 mph in 11.8 seconds. Top speed is listed as 256 mph, and Rimac claims the C Two will have a range of 550 km (about 342 miles) with its 120 kWh battery capacity. The C Two was designed and engineered in house by Rimac and features one of the world’s largest single-piece carbon-fiber monocoques. The batteries and powertrain are integrated into the monocoque for greater torsional stiffness. The C Two is expected to go into production for 2020. Only 150 will be built, but it will be certified for sale globally — including in the U.S.

2020 Subaru Legacy — Chicago
This year in Chicago, Subaru unveiled the next new model to adopt the automaker’s global platform: the all-new 2020 Subaru Legacy. The 2020 Legacy also receives a lighter yet stronger suspension, which combined with a lower center of gravity and a more rigid body should deliver improved steering response, better handling and a smoother, quieter ride. Subaru’s EyeSight driver-assistance system provides automatic emergency braking and adaptive cruise control as well as lane departure warning on all Legacy trims. The interior has been upgraded with a large 11.6-inch vertical high-definition touchscreen display. Standard on Premium, Sport and Limited trims, the new integrated screen features direct access to climate controls, multimedia and other vehicle controls. This new Legacy will offer an optional turbocharged engine — the first time since 2012. The available 2.4-liter turbocharged engine produces a plentiful 260 horsepower.

2020 Subaru Outback — New York
Following the introduction of the next-generation Legacy earlier in the year, Subaru chose New York as the venue to showcase the all-new 2020 Outback. The 2020 Outback is built on Subaru’s new global platform, which features a much stiffer structure as well as an all-new lighter and more responsive suspension. These changes should result in an Outback with better drivability as well as a more comfortable, engaged ride. For the first time since 2009, Subaru puts a turbocharged powerplant back in the Outback. Powering the XT trims is a 2.4-liter turbocharged boxer engine that produces 260 horsepower and 277 lb-ft of torque at a low 2000 rpm. This turbocharged engine gives the Outback its best towing rating ever — 3,500 pounds. Other trims will be equipped with a 2.5-liter engine that delivers 182 horsepower. All Outbacks will come standard with Subaru’s EyeSight suite of safety systems that includes automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control with lane centering and a new DriverFocus Distraction Mitigation System.

2020 Subaru STI S209 — Detroit
For the first time ever, Subaru will offer a limited-edition S-Line STI model — the S209 — exclusively in America. Subaru has offered many higher-performance products from Subaru Tecnica International — STI for short — in Japan only (S201 thru S208), so the arrival of the S209 on U.S. shores is a big deal. Only 200 STI S209s are expected to be built, and all of them will be coming to America. Lucky buyers will get to choose from WR Blue Pearl with gray wheels, or Crystal White Pearl with the classic gold wheels. Powering this special STI is a reworked 2.5-liter turbocharged Boxer engine that delivers 341 horsepower — a healthy bump from the standard STI’s 305 horses. The S209 is only available with a close-ratio 6-speed manual gearbox that delivers power to all four wheels via Subaru’s legendary Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system. Front and rear limited-slip differentials are standard, as are the Driver-Controlled Center Differential, Active Torque Vectoring and Multi-Mode Vehicle Dynamics Control. Power is put to the ground via Dunlop GT600A performance tires developed exclusively for the S209. These grippy tires contribute to the S209’s ability to corner at more than 1g.

Subaru VIZIV Adrenaline Concept — Geneva
Subaru debuted the VIZIV Adrenaline Concept at the 2019 Geneva show — a bold new design for a compact crossover that builds on the Subaru design philosophy of “Dynamic x Solid” with a much more aggressive execution. The vivid blue paint contrasts with the black body protection and silver roof to create a dynamic feeling of strength, with a clear link to Subaru’s rally racing heritage. Current Subaru models have protective cladding on the fenders, but VIZIV Adrenaline body protection extends from bumper to bumper, with nearly the entire front fenders covered. The VIZIV Adrenaline features a unique windshield shape, and the silver and black roof reinforces the body structure and ties in with silver skidplates front and rear. Accents of orange also highlight the wheel center caps and skidplates. Black wheels and aggressive all-terrain tires are locked together with white accents.

Suzuki Hanare — Tokyo
This stalwart Japanese automaker with an illustrious, extensive history may not sell automobiles in America anymore, but its large presence at the 2019 Tokyo Motor Show confirmed the company’s endurance, and included some of the show’s more entertaining vehicles. A perfect example is the Hanare concept, which takes autonomous driving to a new level. Ultimately the Hanare is a mobile living room that is fully autonomous — there is no steering wheel or cockpit of any kind. Occupants simply sit in their comfortable lounge chairs and watch television while the Hanare takes them where they want to go. The unique design of the Hanare concept removes the notion of a vehicle’s front and rear — the concept can operate in either direction. The individual drive wheels also let this concept maneuver itself into tight parking spaces as needed. The entire side of the Hanare opens, which adds another dimension to the enjoyment of this vehicle, allowing the passengers to share their space with the outside world — when parked of course.

2020 Toyota Highlander — New York
Consistently one of the best-selling SUVs in America, the Toyota Highlander is all new for the 2020 model year. Introduced in New York in both gas and hybrid versions, the 2020 Toyota Highlander enters its fourth generation as the latest model to use the Toyota New Global Architecture. The Highlander gets fresh styling with a bold black grille, available premium projector headlights and — for the first time — Highlander can be fitted with 20-inch wheels. The standard Highlander is equipped with a 3.5-liter V6 engine that produces a plentiful 295 horsepower and 263 lb-ft of torque — enough power to provide a maximum towing capacity of 5,000 pounds when properly equipped. Buyers also have the option of going with the Highlander Hybrid, which uses Toyota’s latest hybrid system: a high-efficiency 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine teamed with two electric motors for a combined output of 240 horsepower. Toyota estimates the Highlander Hybrid will achieve 34 mpg combined — a 17 percent improvement over the previous generation. The 2020 Toyota Highlander will arrive in showrooms at the end of 2019; the Highlander Hybrid is expected in February of next year.

2021 Toyota RAV4 Prime — Los Angeles
With groundbreaking vehicles such as the Prius and Camry Hybrid, Toyota has developed a reputation for building gas-electric models designed to provide the utmost in efficiency and fuel economy. However, with the all-new RAV4 Prime plug-in hybrid, the company has gone the high-performance route. The first-ever plug-in hybrid RAV4 will also be the most powerful in the range with an advanced all-wheel-drive system and sport-tuned suspension. The RAV4 Prime gets a tuned version of the standard RAV4 Hybrid’s 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine that produces 176 horsepower on its own. However, when combined with the pair of electric motors, total output is a very impressive 302 horsepower. With the ability to accelerate to 60 mph in 5.8 seconds, the RAV4 Prime will be the second-quickest vehicle in the Toyota lineup. But this potent powertrain still delivers efficiency — when fully charged the RAV4 Prime can travel an estimated 39 miles using its electric motors alone, and Toyota expects this new crossover to achieve 90 MPGe. The 2021 RAV4 Prime will arrive in showrooms next summer.

2020 Toyota GR Supra — Detroit
Toyota enthusiasts have waited — somewhat patiently — more than 20 years for the return of the Supra, and the wait is now over with the introduction of the 2020 Toyota GR Supra. The 2020 Toyota GR Supra was developed in conjunction with BMW and is powered by a turbocharged inline 6-cylinder engine, and the 3.0-liter twin-scroll turbo engine that produces 335 horsepower and 365 lb-ft of torque. The only transmission offered is an 8-speed automatic with standard paddle shifters for manual shifting. The GR Supra will sprint to 60 mph in 4.1 seconds with a top track speed limited to 155 mph. Volkswagen ID.3 — Frankfurt
Volkswagen hosted the world premiere of the Volkswagen ID.3 in Frankfurt — the first electric vehicle based on Volkswagen’s new modular electric drive matrix platform, which will also be used for future ID models. While the ID.3 will not go on sale in the U.S. market, future ID. models will be offered on our side of the pond. The ID.3 has exterior dimensions similar to the Volkswagen Golf, but offers more interior volume due to the electric drive system. The ID.3 design is easily recognized as a zero emission electric vehicle and uses LED lighting to distinguish the design. The ID.3 1 ST special edition offers a range of up to 420 kilometers (260 miles) with the 58 kWh battery. A smaller 45 kWh battery with a range of 330 kilometers (205 miles) and a larger 77 kWh battery with a range of 550 kilometers (341 miles) will also be offered. The ID.3 will go on sale in Germany in the middle of 2020.

Volkswagen ID.BUGGY — Geneva
One of the most fun vehicles introduced in Geneva was the Volkswagen ID. Buggy, the latest addition to Volkswagen’s series of electric concept vehicles. Both retro and modern, the ID.BUGGY concept takes inspiration from classic California dune buggies of the 1960s with a raised hood, tail and fat fenders surrounding big 18-inch wheels shod with all-terrain tires. In true beach-buggy fashion, the concept has no doors and no roof. The ID.BUGGY’s open interior offers plenty of room but seating for two. All materials are waterproof, and seats feature head restraints and belt guides integrated into the seatbacks. Built on VW’s new MEB modular electric drive platform, the ID. BUGGY features a rear-mounted 201-horsepower electric motor driving the rear wheels. With a 62-kWh lithium-ion battery integrated into the floor, the ID. BUGGY has an estimated range of 155 miles on a single charge. This layout mimics the 1960s Beetle-based dune buggies with their engines mounted in back, but an additional electric motor could be added to the front axle for 4-wheel-drive capability. While the design is firmly rooted in the past, the ID. BUGGY concept possesses modern elements as well, including a solid-aluminum underbody guard, a reinforced windshield frame and targa bar.

Volkswagen ID. SPACE VIZZION — Los Angeles
Volkswagen continues its bold move toward electrification with the introduction of the seventh concept in the ID. series: the ID. SPACE VIZZION. Similar to the other concepts in the ID. family, the ID. SPACE VIZZION concept showcases the flexibility of Volkswagen’s MEB electric architecture. With its compact drive components and batteries integrated into the floor, this platform is designed for use in a variety of vehicles. More grand-touring wagon than SUV, the ID. SPACE VIZZION concept is said to be a preview of what will end up as a production vehicle for North America in 2022. The Volkswagen ID. SPACE VIZZION is motivated by a rear-mounted electric motor that produces 275 horsepower. The motor gets juice from an 82-kWh lithium-ion battery pack. Although this is a rear-wheel-drive concept, VW says the flexible architecture would allow for an additional motor, boosting power to 355 horses and providing the ID. SPACE VIZZION with 4MOTION full-time all-wheel drive. When equipped with dual motors, this unique people mover is expected to sprint to 60 mph in a mere 5 seconds on its way to a top speed of 109 mph. The projected range for the ID. SPACE VIZZION is around 300 miles.

Volkswagen Tarok Pickup Concept — New York
Pickup trucks are among the most popular vehicles in America, so it makes sense that any automaker would examine the viability of bringing a new pickup to market. Volkswagen did that with the debut of the Tarok Pickup Concept at the 2019 New York Auto Show. The company already has plans for a production version of this pickup, but only for the South American market. Volkswagen is showing the concept in America to gauge reaction from consumers, which helps determine if there is a market for such a vehicle here. The Tarok Pickup Concept is a compact truck; however, it features a unique design that allows the bed to extend into the cabin by folding down the bottom of the passenger cabin’s rear panel, giving the truck the ability to carry loads as long as six feet. The Tarok also has 4Motion Active Control, which employs a multi-functional rotary knob to control the all-wheel-drive functions and associated driving modes. Built to handle rough terrain as well as it handles cargo, the Tarok has an approach angle of 23.8 degrees, a departure angle of 26.4 degrees and ground clearance of 9.6 inches.

Zenvo TSR-S — Geneva
If exclusivity and extreme performance are required, the Zenvo TSR-S may be the perfect solution. This Danish car company plans to build only five Zenvo cars annually, so the odds of seeing another (or even one) on the road are rather slim. “Like all our cars, the Zenvo TSR-S is 100 percent Danish-designed and hand-built in an extremely limited number,” said Zenvo Marketing Director Peter van Rooy. “Each car is fully customizable and built to order, tailored to the precise specifications of the discerning client,” van Rooy noted. This sleek exotic is powered by a twin-supercharged 5.8-liter V8 engine that produces 1177 horsepower and 811 lb-ft of torque. The run to 62 mph comes up in 2.8 seconds, and twice that speed in 6.8 seconds. One of the craziest features on the TSR-S is the Zentripetal Wing. This rear spoiler has two rotational axes which allow it to act as an air brake or cornering stabilizer. When the TSR-S corners, the wing rotates relative to the car’s longitudinal axis. This theoretically generates an inward force together with conventional downforce, boosting inner tire grip and cornering stability.
