2019 Mercedes-Benz CLS
Initially available as the CLS450, the new car’s power will come from an all-new 3.0-liter inline 6-cylinder engine that features EQ Boost — an integrated starter/generator — as well as a 48-volt onboard electrical system. The new motor produces 362 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque, while the EQ Boost can bring in an additional 21 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque over short periods of time. This extra boost can aid in acceleration or allow the gas engine to shut off when coasting for better fuel savings —— basically providing some benefits typically only possible with a hybrid. The new CLS is expected to go on sale in fall 2018.
