A Porsche Wagon?
The newest addition to Porsche’s sports car lineup, the Panamera Sport Turismo made its debut at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show. Porsche extended the roofline of the Panamera 4-door sports car to create a new profile that looks a lot like a wagon, which adds additional cargo volume, easier rear-seat access and room for up to three passengers in the rear seat.

New Design
Porsche’s first 4-door sports car, the Panamera debuted as a 2009 model with a sloping roofline and a more coupelike profile. Based on the second-generation 2017 Panamera that debuted last year, the Panamera Sport Turismo profile changes from the B-pillar back with extended side windows, a flatter roofline and a roof-mounted adaptive spoiler.

Roof Spoiler
The angle of the adaptive, extendible roof spoiler on the Panamera Sport Turismo changes based on vehicle settings and the driving situation. In Sport or Sport Plus mode, the spoiler automatically moves to performance position above 55 mph. The spoiler also helps minimize wind noise when the panoramic sliding roof is open.

Model Lineup
The Panamera Sport Turismo will be offered in four versions for the U.S. market: Panamera 4, Panamera 4 E-Hybrid, Panamera 4S and Panamera Turbo. Pricing starts at $96,200 for Panamera 4 Sport Turismo with the Panamera 4 E-Hybrid Sport Turismo at $104,000 in the U.S. The Panamera 4S Sport Turismo is priced at $109,200, and the Panamera Turbo Sport Turismo rounds out the lineup at $154,000. All prices exclude a $1,050 delivery, processing and handling fee. Panamera Sport Turismo is expected to go arrive in the U.S. at the end of 2017.

Under the Hood
Panamera Sport Turismo features the same four engine choices as the standard Panamera lineup, starting with the Panamera 4 Sport Turismo powered by a 330-horsepower turbocharged 3.0-liter V6, which accelerates from zero to 60 mph in 5 seconds with launch control. The Panamera 4S Sport Turismo receives a 440-horsepower twin-turbocharged 2.9-liter V6, dropping the zero-to-60-mph acceleration time to 4 seconds. The Panamera 4 E-Hybrid Sport Turismo adds a 136-horsepower electric motor combined with the same combustion engine as the 4S, enabling acceleration from zero to 60 mph in 4.4 seconds. The Panamera Turbo Sport Turismo gets power from a 550-horsepower twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 engine and will accelerate from zero to 60 mph in 3.4 seconds with the aid of launch control. The second-generation Panamera features Porsche’s new 8-speed PDK dual-clutch transmission.

Advanced Technology
All Panamera Sport Turismo versions are equipped with Porsche Traction Management, an active all-wheel-drive system with an electronically-controlled multi-plate clutch and adaptive air suspension with three-chamber technology. New technology includes Porsche Advanced Cockpit, Porsche InnoDrive advanced assistance system, Porsche Communications Management and adaptive cruise control. Available chassis technology options include Rear Axle Steering and Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control — an electronic roll stabilization system.

Seating for Five
Panamera Sport Turismo is the first Panamera to offer rear seating for three passengers; the “standard” Panamera has two individual seats in the rear. (Panamera Sport Turismo also has individual outer seats, but the center offers room for an additional passenger when needed.) A four-seat configuration is offered as an option, with two electrically-adjustable individual seats in the rear. Panamera Sport Turismo’s longer roofline offers additional rear-seat headroom, while also making it easy for rear-seat passengers to enter and exit the vehicle.

Cargo Access
The new roofline also creates easier access to the cargo area with a wide–opening tailgate and low load height. Panamera Sport Turismo offers 18.4 cubic feet of storage capacity when loaded to the top of the rear seats with the seats in position — 0.7 feet more than Panamera sedan. Loaded to the roof with the seatbacks folded, Sport Turismo offers a total of 49 cubic feet of storage, 1.8 cubic feet more than Panamera. The rear seats can be unlocked electrically from the cargo area and can be folded individually in a 40:20:40 split, creating a nearly flat load floor. The available luggage compartment management system includes two floor rails, four tie-down points and a net.
