One look confirms there really isn’t anything else on the road quite like the smart fortwo. As the head of smart Annette Winkler told us, “our customers just want to be different.” Not only is the fortwo the smallest car, it stands out with a rear-engine, rear-wheel drive configuration. Also unusual are the plastic body panels which mean no door dings or rust and (relatively) easy replacement. While the body panels are light and flexible, the frame of the passenger compartment is a “tridion safety cell” made up of ultra-high-strength steel.
