2016 Pebble Beach Tour d’Elegance
Every year on Thursday immediately preceding the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, many participants in the annual automotive competition take to the streets surrounding Carmel By The Sea in the Pebble Beach Tour d’Elegance, offering car lovers the opportunity to see the rare and valuable machinery on the open road. In years past the Tour traveled south from Carmel on Highway 1 to Big Sur, but this year the route was altered to avoid any risk of interfering with firefighting efforts to contain the Soberanes Fire in Monterey County. Instead the Tour traced historic 17 Mile Drive before arriving in Carmel, where some of the pristine entries lined Ocean Avenue to give the public free access prior to Concours judging on Sunday. What follows are some delectable entrees from this movable feast of automotive elegance.
