Road Trip!
Showing a meticulously-prepared automobile on the 18th fairway of the Pebble Beach Golf Links during the prestigious Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance can be the ultimate experience for a car collector. But for a few intrepid enthusiasts, the experience begins early and a bit farther north on the Pebble Beach Motoring Classic. Beginning near Seattle, Washington, this ultimate vintage-car road trip covers 1,500 miles through the mountains and along the Pacific coast to arrive at Pebble Beach in time for the Concours d’Elegance. Many participants return each year, and for good reason. As Motoring Classic organizer Al McEwan likes to quip, “it’s a bit of driving in between the parties.” Here’s a look at this year’s send-off as the group gathered together before heading south.
